Chapter 14

Third POV

King Gristle finally finds a bib that is perfect for him.

"I think you look fat." Bridget says to King Gristle.

"What?" King Gristle asks as he turns around to face her.

"P-H, phat. Then strike that pose." Poppy says to Bridget.

"P-H, phat." Bridget says before striking her pose.

King Gristle was surprised to see Bridget.

"Hot lunch. Total honesty from a total babe." King Gristle says as he walks up to her.

Bridget laughs nervously at this.

"And who might you be?" King Gristle asks Bridget.

Bridget was having a little trouble coming up with a name.

Poppy was having trouble as well.

"Lady." Biggie says.

"Glitter?" Guy Diamond asks.

"Sparkles." Smidge says.

"Seriously?" Branch asks.

Val just facepalms.

"My name is Lady Glittersparkles, seriously." Bridget says.

"Well, my Lady Glittersparkles. Would you care to join me for an evening at Captain Starfunkle's Roller Rink and Arcade?" King Gristle asks Bridget.

"Would I! Would I?" Bridget asks Poppy.

"Yes. You'd be delighted." Poppy answers.

"Yes. You'd be delighted." Bridget says.

"Huh, indeed, I would." King Gristle says.

Val's POV

"When are you gonna ask him about Creek?" Branch asks Poppy.

"We have to warm him up first. Don't you know anything about romance?" Poppy asks him.

"Of course. I'm passionate about it." Branch answers with a little sarcasm.

"Really?" Poppy asks, believing him.

"Don't you know anything about sarcasm?" Branch asks.

"I think I had a sarcasm once." Cooper says as he leans over to us.

Third POV

"And I'll take one of everything, Bibbly. Things are gonna get messy." King Gristle says as he and Bridget left the store.

King Gristle and Bridget sit at a seat in the restaurant. A pizza being served to them.

"Oh, so fancy. Good thing I brought my appetite." Bridget says to King Gristle.

King Gristle and Bridget go to grab a slice of pizza, but they grab the same one, touching each others hand at the process.

King Gristle and Bridget stare into each others eyes for a little bit.

Bridget then slaps King Gristle's hand away and grabs the slice before eating it.

"You are fantastic!" King Gristle says with amazement.

Bridget finishes eating the pizza.

"Bridget. Compliment him back." Poppy says to Bridget.

"I like your back." Bridget says to King Gristle.

"No. I meant say something nice about him." Poppy says.

"But I do like his back." Bridget says back to Poppy.

"Huh?" King Gristle asks in confusion.

Bridget was having trouble saying something nice to him.

"Poppy, help her." Branch says Poppy.

Poppy was having trouble too. Even everyone else. Since everyone was talking at the same time, it made it harder for Bridget to say something.

"Your eyes... ears... nose... skin... neck... ears... nose... face... back of your head... your teeth." Bridget says.

"What's going on? Are you making fun of me?" King Gristle asks.

Third POV

The others were having trouble saying something nice to him.

I then look over to see Branch going to say something.

"You're eyes. They're like... two pools, so deep... I fear if I dive in... I might never come up for air. And your smile... the sun itself turns jealous... and refuses to come out from behind the clouds... knowing it cannot shine half as bright." Branch has Bridget say.

"I kinda do have a nice smile, don't I?" King Gristle asks.

"Yes, you do." Branch has Bridget say.

Branch looks at us, with me giving him a small smile.

Branch smiles back at me and then looks in front of him.

"I can't believe I'm about to say this..." Bridget says to King Gristle.

"Guys, she's going rouge!" Biggie says freaking out.

"But being here with you today... makes me realize that true happiness is possible." Bridget says.

I was surprised to hear her say this. Poppy was as well.

"It is! True happiness is a lot closer than you think. It's right here." King Gristle says as he shows Bridget a gem that was connected to his cape.

"That's pretty, I guess." Bridget says.

"What do you think now?" King Gristle says before opening the gem to reveal Creek.

I gasp in shock.

"Creek?" Branch says with surprise.

"I knew he was alive!" Poppy says with excitement.

"I've been savoring this little guy." King Gristle says before putting Creek back into the gem. "Tell me, my lady, will I be seeing you at the Trollstice feast?" He asks Bridget.

"Well, duh. I'll be working." Bridget says.

My heart almost stopped.

"It!" Poppy has Bridget say.

"It! Working it. You know, like, working it." Bridget says

I sigh in relief. Bridget almost gave herself away.

"Yeah! You're not kidding, you will. Because you're gonna be there as my plus one." King Gristle says.

"Really?" Bridget says in surprise.

"Assuming you'll say yes?" King Gristle asks.

"Yes!" Bridget says with excitement.

"Yes!" King Gristle says triumphantly.

"Yes!" Our friends say with excitement.

"Meantimes, maybe we should find some other way to... work up an appetite." King Gristle says.

"Oh, yeah? What did you have in mind?" Bridget asks him.

So far so good. The plan isn't failing.
