"This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." -Winston Churchill

Looking constantly at her watch, Tabitha hoped she wasn't late

Looking constantly at her watch, Tabitha hoped she wasn't late. She put her chubby legs and arms to use by sprinting to school before the tardy bell rang.

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!

Tabitha glanced at the wired gate that surrounded the school's parking lot, praying that it wouldn't close. But she noticed the security guards head out of the doors of the admistration building and ran to get to that destination. She knew they would start to move the mechanisms soon.

Not on my watch, will you prevent me from entering Mr. Security Guards.

Tabitha shouted out to them as in their eyes she knew they still viewed her as a regular student; one who will be tardy anyway. So she decided to use the excuse of a 'better late than never' game.

"Don't lock the gates yet, kind sir! I'm one of Miss Hudson's students. I know I'm late, but I'm now here!"

The first guard acknowledged Tabitha's plea and let her in, but warned her that next time he and his partner wouldn't be so generous for they were going against the school's rules. She nodded and shook his hand.

Out of breath, Tabitha stopped to gaze at the tall building she grew to love.

Whitly Middle School

Tabitha was thankful for what the security guards did, but knew deep down inside that this was the last time they'd see her.  She's be saying her goodbyes soon, so a tear started forming upon her face.

She wondered why the guards were easily fooled by what she said, since she didn't have a backpack on like the other students would. But that was beside the point now as her thoughts had to be put aside.

Tabitha made up her mind that she would not be going back to class for she was ashamed of her work. Whitly wasn't a sorcery school for witches to study. The only reason why she came back was for James, Astrid and Hansel's sake. Now that they were missing in action, she hoped her teacher would forgive her for their disappearances and back her up if their parents asked where they were.

Tabitha entered the school's hallway and noticed that it was nearly empty except for a few tardy student's like herself. She kept telling herself to act natural and straightened the blouse she wore as she picked up at Lenore's aparment.

Interestingly enough, the cat that Tabitha knew wasn't pennyless, and both worked out a deal on how to obtain the room. Tabitha would pay the landlord and Lenore would be her faithful companion who'd help her with the rent. But now that was the end of the innocence and soon Tabitha would have to pack her bags and go home to her adopted parents.

Miss Hudson was taking roll call when she heard a knock on the door. And as she opened it, a student with burning eyes rested upon her shoulder.

There was frustration in Tabitha's voice, and Janneth was willing to hear everything. It was time to confess.
