When you regularly post new chapters, the algorithm is triggered and your story gets a boost in visibility. Once it's marked as Complete, it gets another big boost. But after that, the new readers tend to trickle away because the visibility is also trickling away.

Completed stories are an odd ranking dilemma because readers prefer starting finished stories, but without new chapters coming out, the algorithm is no longer being triggered in that way. One way to give your completed story a boost is to update a chapter. You can correct a typo or add/edit an author's note to accomplish this. It will count as an update.

I don't have any solid suggestions for how often you should do this, but I would guess once a week minimum to boost the story's visibility. I would imagine more is better, but do a frequency that works for your schedule or interest level. You don't want it to become a chore.
