Iris

We're at the dinner table having dinner together now that Papa is here. Uncle also returned home and was happy to see Papa. But they've been giving Ares the cold behaviour openly which is hurting him. He has his eyes glued to his plate, silent. My hand travels into his and locks it. They're so warm and heated.

He's not okay. And my heart hates to see him like that. He shouldn't have told Dad about the bet. He's spoken up for me so many times and now I need to do the same for him. I look over to Papa and he is feeding Aunt food off his plate and she has the brightest smile on her face. My heart soothes seeing this. They must've been longing for this for so long.

"Sweetheart, this girl is precious. When she visited me, it was as if you visited me. I could not tell you how happy my heart was," Papa told.

Sweetheart. Papa calls Aunt Sweetheart. That's adorable.

"She indeed is precious Dad," Aunt smiles looking at me.

"Now tell me you both. What happened before I got here?" Papa questioned.

"Nothing Dad," Uncle says eating his food.

"I've lived longer than both of you. Ares is quiet and there's a slap mark on his face," Papa angrily scolds.

"Wait until you find out what your spoiled grandson has done, Papa," Aunt frustratedly hated.

"Aunt please," I say trying to stop her.

"What did he do?" Papa questions desperately.

We both sit quietly as Aunt and Uncle tell Papa about the entire bet situation. Ares has his eyes glued to the table. He can't look at Papa. He knows how heartbroken and disappointed Papa would be.

"Is that true Ares?" papa asks.

Ares nods yes with his head without looking at him. He stands up from his seat to leave when I grab a hold of his hand again to stop him.

"I understand why everyone is upset with Ares. But sex bets are normal in college. Ares in general has never harmed my dignity. He didn't let anyone know that he won the bet. He instead turned the bet down, and let his ego and playboy reputation slide in our cohort to protect mine and my dad's dignity and reputation. Whatever he did, he realized his wrongdoing in the end. I've forgiven him and this is the guy I love dearly with my entire heart. Please, our wedding is in a week. We want everyone to join happily."

"She is really precious indeed," Papa says placing a kiss on my forehead.

"Only for Iris, we will move past this Ares. If you both weren't together I would've shown you," Uncle scolds.

"Well, they say, like father like son," Papa chuckled bitterly making my jaw drop.

"What do you mean?" Ares questions.

"Papa don't," Aunt stops.

"There's a similar story between your parents," Papa revealed.

We both gasp whilst both aunt and uncle hide their faces out of embarrassment.

"Well, that makes it even then," I say. "Nobody talks about this ever again."

Chapter closed. The end. When we go up to the room, Ares lies on me flat, under my bump, hugging my legs thanking me for what I did today.

"You've done it for me, why can't I do it for you?" I say.

He kisses the middle of my bump and that's where I feel the baby kiss.

"Damn. The babies don't want me kissing you, love," Ares says feeling their feel on his lips.

I give out a laugh. I'm so excited for when these two come. But the pain is scary and a worry. No, I'm more excited. Me and Ares have already set up the nursery for these two.
