When going to the research institute, Chu Xia and Cen Huai'an carried large and small bags. Upon returning, the two of them appeared relaxed.

The early summer sun was not glaring. Looking out through the bus window, one could still see dewdrops on the leaves reflecting the sunlight, glistening but not yet falling.

However, Chu Xia was not in the mood to appreciate this beautiful early morning scene; she just wanted to lean on the window and take a nap.

Last night, Cen Zhengnian stayed up too late, and if it weren't for the fact that they had to take An'an to Grandpa Jiang's place today, she wouldn't wake up before noon.

Cen Huai'an's mood was also not high. When he left, he kept turning his head to look back at Cen Zhengnian. It wasn't until he couldn't see the research institute anymore that he turned back.

Before going to Grandpa Jiang's house, Chu Xia took Cen Huai'an home to change clothes and tidy up. Then they brought some medicinal wine before heading there.

Getting off the bus, they coincidentally encountered someone selling bamboo shoots at the entrance of the alley. It was already late in the bamboo shoot season, with the peak around the Qingming Festival. Encountering them now was indeed a stroke of luck.

Chu Xia glanced at the bamboo shoots. The elderly farmer selling vegetables had a simple and honest expression. He awkwardly plucked a shoot, rubbing his hands, and said, "These... I dug them up in the mountains, they're not... not old."

As he spoke, he peeled one open to show Chu Xia.

"I know," Chu Xia had already finished inspecting them. Indeed, as the old farmer said, they were all very tender. She smiled at the farmer and said, "I'll take them all."

There weren't many left to begin with, and they would be finished in one meal.

The farmer quickly weighed them and put the bamboo shoots into the mesh bag Chu Xia had brought.

Chu Xia always carried a mesh bag when going out now. At this moment, there were no plastic bags, so when buying things, she either used a basket or a mesh bag; otherwise, it would be inconvenient.

When they arrived at Grandpa Jiang's house, one of his students happened to be consulting him with some questions, so Chu Xia and An'an didn't go to the study.

She let An'an play in the living room and carried the mesh bag into the kitchen, where Aunt Li was tidying up.

"Aunt Li, when I was coming here, I saw someone selling bamboo shoots, so I bought some. Take a look and see how to make them delicious."

"Alright." Aunt Li took the bamboo shoots and continued working with her head down. Chu Xia knew her temperament and came out of the kitchen with the empty mesh bag to sit in the living room with An'an.

As the time for the preliminary exams approached, Chu Xia tightened her focus on her studies. Whenever she had free time, she either read books or solved problems.

When Second Uncle Jiang's younger daughter, Jiang Zhiyi, and her mother came over, what they saw was Chu Xia earnestly working on problems at the table in the living room. Cen Huai'an was sitting quietly beside her, playing Go.

Second aunt Jiang gave Chu Xia a brief glance, then turned to look at Jiang Zhiyi with a cold expression. "What about your homework?"

Jiang Zhiyi is also preparing for the college entrance exam this year. She is constantly pushed by her mother to study. Finally, when she comes to her grandfather's house for a break, she doesn't want to bring homework with her.
