they didn't know that percy was behind them. nobody knew, except dionysus.
the god of wine caught the blonde leaving, and had a couple unkind things to say.
the sentence seemed to take up all the space in percy's brain.
"cherry is the goddess of love, you imbecile. do you think she appreciates you chasing after her like a dog? or is it annabeth? both?" dionysus questioned him, with a frown.
after he made that comment, dionysus told percy the story of him and his wife, ariadne, to explain why he hated him so much.
finally, dionysus let percy go.
percy had been following the quest group ever since, until they'd stopped at a convenience store. percy used the cap of invisibility to hide from them.
grover had done a tracking spell. thalia and zoe argued about something that percy couldn't hear. cherry and grover questioned each-other about what a scullion was.
cherry and grover talked about percy and annabeth for most of the ride as the group continued south.
