ETERNAL LONGING

Every day she waited with wonder waiting eyes,
Her heart skipped a beat with every ring of the phone,
Each knock on the door carried a whisper of hope,
But alas, it's no familiar grin.
She clung to memories like fragile petals in a storm,
Day by day, her hopes grow wane like the fading twilight,
Knowing deep within, he won't return.
To the realm of souls, he's ventured afar,
Leaving her heart to ache and yearn,
Yet in the silence of her sorrow, she finds strength to carry on.
