8 The Festival Of Life

After finding out I was pregnant we were thrilled Mason rushed me straight to the healer to check on how me and the pups were doing the healer was an old rabbit male with a soothing presence he assured us that me and the cubs were perfectly healthy and from calculating the time we mated we figured I have a little over a month left till I give birth if they are males he also informed us that he can hear 2 heartbeats other then my own so their is always a possibility of twin girls but we wont know for sure for another 2-3 weeks when they grow a bit more 

On the last day before the festival I got Mason to teach me how to weave a basket to carry our cubs around but no matter how hard I try my basket always finds a way of unravelling itself so in the end I decided to leave the basket weaving to Mason and maybe find a different hobby 

Finally the day of the festival was here and I was more then ready I even asked Mason to make me a new outfit for the occasion it was a knee length dress with a slit on the bottom right side of the skirt and a lowcut v shaped neckline with straps for the shoulders it was made from white rabbit fur so it was especially soft Mason was not sure what I meant at first when I explained the design but after drawing a picture in the dirt for him he had a better understanding and I couldn't be happier with the result I topped off the look with a flower crown I had made the day before and I was set 

I did a little twirl in my outfit feeling especially pleased with myself before heading outside to show my hubby what he had accomplished stepping out into view I did a little spin for him so he can see the whole look before blowing him a kiss while trying to act cute 

Mason took one look and his tail was wagging and his smile was even brighter then usual as he stands up to embrace me "I'm not sure if I can hold myself back from killing all the males that lay their eyes on you when your this beautiful even I dont deserve you with how gorgeous you are" He says while kissing me all over as I chuckle at his antics 

We had a light breakfast of short bird meat and veggies before heading into town I was still struggling to be anywhere near fish but at least Mason can eat it so the traps were not a complete waste 

We walked around hand in hand until we reached the inner district where the festival was being held their were people everywhere I looked and the streets were full of merchants selling their wares

Their was also a bunch of new foods I had yet to find for sale like sweetcorn and rice I struggle to bring myself away from the stores making a mental note to come back when we are not so broke 

As we get deeper into the city I can hear music playing and see a small stage with an animal playing a lyre I feel many more eyes on me then usual and it seems to have Mason even more on edge now that I'm carrying his pups

We are finally able to break from the crowd and I spot an area with females as I walk up to a guard nearby "Who do I speak with to be a part of the tournament?"  I ask with a small smile as the guard goes bright red "That would be me... or any of the other guards... You dont have to ask me tho... But I would like you to ask me... You- You can just join the females over their... Just sit in one of the chairs and wait for the tournament to begin"  He says sounding exasperated and embarrassed 

"Ahhh thank you" I say as I give him another small smile and a wave as I walk over and take a seat with the other females as Mason stands just behind me the same as the mates of the other females 

'They are all quite pretty some must be nobles too judging by their eye colour' As I'm thinking about who will get the most love confessions I hear a loud horn as all attention goes to the other side of the colosseum where I spot the fox and peacock king's sitting in thrones 

I hear a hush go over the whole arena as the fox king stands up "Welcome all I hope you are ready for a great fight we have some especially beautiful females today so I hope you all work your hardest to impress them" He says as a loud cheer can be heard from the males down in the colosseum "And females I hope you find worthy males who are able to capture your hearts" He says at I feel his eyes land on me for a brief second before turning to the crowd with a loud shout "Let the games begin!" 

And with that the fights started the fights were one at a time starting with the weakest males working their way up. A lot of the males were asking the noble females for the rights to court I guess they are in high demand tho I did get a few males come over to me but none of them really stood out 

The fights were quite brutal defiantly not for the faint of heart some males even got critically injured eventually we got into the fights with the 3-4 stripes and those fights were the best so far both party's were coming in with a lot of battle experience so a lot of the fights were close super close calls

I have also been sneaking looks at the fox king here and their. Their is just something about him that is mesmerising it really makes me question why he was not in the novel 

Their were just a few matches left and I have yet to choose a new mate all the males that came up to me so far were 2 stripe or lower and with Mason being my only mate and the cubs coming that just doesn't feel like an option 

All of a sudden I feel eyes on me and as I look down into the colosseum I see a beautiful jet black deer about to fight a tiger I watch in awe as the fight begins the tiger stalks around the deer looking for an opening and the second it sees one it pounces only to be caught and thrown back by the deer's large antlers then the deer charges the tiger it is a fierce battle but eventually the deer comes out on top I watch and he transforms back into his beastman form tying a pelt around his waist and grabbing his prepared gift 

He is a very attractive male even if he has a very serious looking demeanour his hair is black and looks soft and silky while his eyes are a deep purple he is still sporting his antlers and he has cute little ears on his head too 

To my surprise his eyes meet mine as he walks right over and kneels in front of me "Female my name is Tyson and I'm from Bluebell City I hope you will accept this gift and allow me to court you" Tyson says not letting his eyes leave the ground as he holds a small carved box out to me

I smile taking the gift from him "Thank you for the gift Tyson I will allow you to court me" I say as I open the box curiosity getting the better of me and inside is a small hairpin with a blue crystal attached to one end my eyes go wide as I look over the piece it is beautiful but most of all it looks very very expensive blue crystals are worth even more then green ones and one of those got me a whole house

Tyson smiles as he gets up and goes to stand with Mason behind me 

Their was only one more fight after that and that male was trying to woo one of the noble females like most of the males here not that I minded since Tyson would have been my first choice anyway

As the tournament ended everyone started filtering out of the colosseum it got so crowded I had to get Mason to carry me out. As we left I took one last look at the fox king and from what it looked like he was also looking at me till I caught him in the act I gave him a smile and a small wave before we headed home

We told Tyson to follow us so he knows where to find me and he happily agreed once we got home I said my goodbyes to Tyson and he said he would be back in the morning with something nice for me that made me really curious I'm no good at waiting for surprises 

Me and Mason had a quick snack and then went to bed snuggled into each other falling asleep almost immediately after such a busy day
