what is a book of shadows?
a book of shadows is a collection of spells and rituals as well as other magick resorces. its basically a kinda diary that you keep all your witchy stuff in. A book of shadows (a BOS for short) can contain anything the owner feels is important e.g moon phases, candle magick, divination, and herbs. i'll go more into those later.
Whats a grimmoire and how is it different from a BOS?
if you don't know what the difference between them don't stress, it took me ages to understand why they were different.
A Book of Shadows (BoS) is a personal collection of knowledge, while a Grimoire records spells, rituals, and natural remedies. a BOS contains personal experiences like dreams, incounters with spirits/deity while a Grimoire does not include personal notes or experiences. also most witchs have a BOS cause its basically a diary
So a BoS is a witch's personal book of magic, while a Grimoire contains general knowledge.
