As we left Caroline and Lisa to clean up, the tension dissipated, and laughter filled the air. But as I headed toward the stairs with the group, James intercepted me.

"Where are you going?" he asked, throwing off my plans.

Confused, I replied, "I thought we were all going to the Art room."

But James had other ideas, explaining that blowing up balloons in the project room would be chaotic. Reluctantly, I followed him to the Music room, where we spent the next hour filling balloons.

"What was that treat for?" I asked casually despite curiosity having the best of me.

James chuckled, "Last night when Adam confessed in group chat, Pella being Pella called for celebrations, next thing you know." He trailed off.

I frowned.

A junior walked in on us and James attention shifted towards him.

By the time we finished, James informed me that it was almost 1 p.m.

"I'll inform Ms. Tee and then head out. Let everyone know I'll see them tonight," I told him, preparing to leave. But just as I was about to go, a nagging thought struck me.

"What time does the party start?" I asked, realizing I hadn't been given any details.

James hesitated, clearly caught off guard, before promising to have Adam text me the information.

With a quick goodbye, I left, eager to get home and prepare for the evening ahead.

Making my way to the reception, I recounted the party drama to Ms. Tee, who initially frowned but then smiled in understanding. Signing my name on the register, I felt relieved when she gave me the green flag to leave.

As I stepped outside, the crisp air greeted me, and I couldn't help but admire the beauty of the Cardiff sky, adorned with thick clouds that promised both rain and sunshine. It was quintessential Cardiff weather, ever-changing and unpredictable.

Lost in my thoughts, I was taken aback when Adam suddenly emerged from the lunchroom, lifting me off the ground with a playful grin. My heart skipped a beat at the sight of his smile, despite my attempt to maintain composure.

"What's this all about?"

I chuckled as he set me down, feeling a rush of warmth at his affectionate gesture.

"You can't just leave without telling me," he teased, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

Rolling my eyes, I retorted, "Why not? You managed to plan a surprise lunch without me and keep the party a secret, didn't you?"

He turned away briefly before surprising me once again, holding a white envelope between his teeth as he pulled me closer.

My heart raced as I realized his intentions, and I couldn't help but laugh nervously.

Taking the envelope from his mouth was a nerve-wracking task, but his pleading gaze spurred me on. With butterflies fluttering in my stomach, I finally succeeded, flashing him a smile of gratitude.

"I'll wait for you tonight," he said softly, his words lingering in the air as I sprinted away, overcome with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.

Running through the streets, I allowed the wind to caress my cheeks, lost in a whirlwind of emotions. Despite my apprehension, I couldn't deny the growing affection I felt for Adam.

Underneath the dark clouds, he was my very own Prince Charming, and tonight promises to be an unforgettable adventure.
