1. Heaven

I left it all behind,
The countryside and the castle
It all seemed too bright for a dark soul like mine
In the mornings, the sun didn't shine
It glowered over
And for the most part, the smiles were suffocating me

I held on, I stood there
To watch you sing
I put up, to see you smile
Like I seen heaven
I held on, lurking in the shadows
I saw you sing and dance
It became my favorite song

If I could change anything about you
I know I wouldn't
Your soul as vibrant as calming as the seas
I'd never seen someone as beautiful, or so I thought
Although I knew you weren't what I truly need

But I held on, I was there
To watch you sing
I put up, baby, to see you smile
Like I seen heaven
I held on, the shadows were my only friends
I saw you sing and dance,
To my favorite song

I'm grateful to the lord
I'm no place near now
A little distance or more did good to me
For sure I know you wouldn't like to dig any deeper
But your smile is no more heaven to me

To hold on, to be there
To hear your voice
Just putting up, to watch you get away from
Holding on and hiding from the world
To see you smile, it no more matters to me

Background:

OK so I wrote this one while humming the tune of Coachella Woodstock in my mind by Lana Del Rey. She is an amazing artist and I listen to her music all the time. In fact the title of the collection is inspired by her song Sad girl. I like to unnecessarily quote her lyrics in the most irrelevant of situations. 😋 Heaven is not similar to coachella in any way though. It's just something that came to my mind randomly.

P.S : I'll be posting other poems too but if you do happen to read this poem before I get to post others and you are curious about the rest of them, you can check them out on my Instagram where they have been already posted. My Instagram username goes by the same name, that is Savicrabs.
