Keith couldn't see over the much taller galra. He tried craning his neck up to look over their shoulders, but the leader gave him a nasty glare. He puffed up his cheeks and stood still, crossing his arms. Iris looked back at him and smiled nervously. "Once we're dismissed I'll let you climb onto my shoulders." he whispered. Just as he did, strangely the leader called out to dismiss. Keith quickly ran to Iris and climbed onto his back. Iris couldn't see either since he was rather short himself. "What do you see, buddy?" He grunted, holding Keith up, his hands on his legs. "I- I think I see him. But..he's too far away." Iris lost his breath and quickly lowered himself to let Keith slide off of his back. He looked around for a second before wandering into a crowd of alteans. Most of them were even taller than him. He tried being polite saying "excuse me" every time he passed one of them, but they all gave him a frightened stare as if he'd just murdered someone. He finally pushed his way up to the front behind a small altean child. He still couldn't see the prince very well due to his crummy vision. once the child turned around it began to cry recklessly. His bawls were heard from all the way from across the large room. Everyone turned, staring at Keith. He raised his hands as if to surrender. He saw a much larger galra head over and apologized politely to the mother of the child, watching her drag the child away. Once she was gone, he grabbed Keith by the collar of his uniform and got close to his face. "Don't try anything stupid, small one, cause you'll be the next one they execute."

"I didn't do anything! And..execute?" The tall galra began to cackle. He looked back at a buffer one behind him. "You hear this kid? He doesn't know about the alteans' execution chamber!" They both began laughing, grabbing Keith's by his hair and slamming the side of his face into the wall. "The alteans have this system. Let's just say, you mess with the children, you get executed. And boy buddy that'll happen to you too if you don't watch yourself." They smashed his face into the wall again, laughing maniacally.

Lance watched the scene in awe, shocked at they way Galra handled situations like this. Keith hadn't even done anything, he was watching him himself. He couldn't help keeping his eyes off him anyway just because he was smaller and seemed more fragile than the rest. Most of the other Alteans were more concerned with cheering the poor child up than they were with Keith. "Enough!" The prince eventually spoke up, rising from his throne with his hands behind his back. He wanted to point at them, call out the hasty Galra that were practically beating Keith up, however he knew it was proper etiquette not to point. "Let him go." Lance stared straight at the large soldier that had Keith by his collar.

The galra's eyes widened. He didn't look too scared, seeing how scrawny the prince was but released Keith anyway in fear of getting into trouble. "Apologies your highness." they both bowed, walking back to where they stood before. Keith couldn't help but stare at the altean prince in amazement. Now that he saw him up closer, he realized why everyone adored him so much. He was so beautiful and had a nice small figure like that of a model. He was lost for words, seeing the young man's pearl colored hair shine in the ballroom's bright lights. He knew he was breaking the rules just by staring at the prince, but he couldn't help seeing his beauty. Suddenly, someone grabbed him by the collar and dragged him off. He looked back to see Iris. Iris let go of him and squealed. "Did you see that?! He stood up for you!! That's amazing! I mean, I feel bad for you getting hurt, but seriously! Tell me, was it worth it?"

"Okay, okay, this isn't an interview. Cut it out." He nudged him playfully in the ribs. "It's hard to keep up with you when you talk that fast."

Lance smiled softly, seeing the smaller Galra boy being freed from their grip. Instead of sitting back down in his throne, he stepped over to the King and looked back among the guests. His father waved him off, as he could tell Lance desperately wanted to go mingle with everyone else. Lance has pretty much mastered getting his way, especially at events like these. As Iris had mentioned, he was pretty popular because of his charming ways and his ability to maintain open minded despite growing up being spoiled by the King and Queen. Not to mention, he was blessed by the gods with his good looks. His walk was powerful yet regal, winking at a few girls that caught his eye as he stepped towards the variety of Galra.

Keith hadn't noticed when Prince Lance walked over, he'd been smirking and elbowing Iris in the side repeatedly, which he returned. He bared a toothy grin as he pummeled him playfully. When he finally noticed Lance he froze in place. He meant to bow, but he couldn't move. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion, Lance's hair swiftly trailing behind him as he walked by gracefully. Keith couldn't help but watch his every move. Iris soon shook him back to reality. "Hey, hey, look! There he is!" he whispered excitedly.
