Most people don't know this or didn't take it seriously enough.

BUT. Temo. Chotto matte.

Dazai said he likes Chuuya once.

An additional line in the novel! Kafka Asagiri, the author of the bad manga and light novel, added SOMETHING in the novel after the release! He especially added these lines!

The original was so hard to find, bet you've never seen it. I looked so hard for this picture I almost died please love me ;-;

"Fufu, looks like we are compatible. I love you that way/must be I love you!" (Dazai)

Notice he LITERALLY used the word " 大好き ", which means "like very much' or "love", a pretty heavy word! He said it to someone who he's just met too.

And after Chuuya rejected him by saying "ew, that's so sick I might die!", he had this regretful expression and avoided looking at Chuuya, saying "......yeah, I feel so sick I might die too", then quickly changed the subject.

Notice his reaction though, that's the important part. He definitely was not lying. Perhaps it just slipped out on accident and he regrets saying it after. It was like he just got rejected after confessing and felt awkward...poor Dazai. I bet Chuuya was shocked or thinks the bandage bastard was teasing him again.

Throughout the series, Dazai has never been seen using the word "大好き(Daisuki)" to anyone ever again(fuck me if I'm wrong), not even to the ladies he claimed that he wants to have a double suicide with. To Chuuya he also resolved to use "I hate you" only.

Asagiri literally went back to add these two lines, and you think they're not canon? If this wasn't something we should notice, why would he go through so much trouble to add this scene? There are no coincidences.

(I also heard from somewhere that he meant to add those lines originally before the first publication, but was too anxious to do so? Does anyone know more about this...)

I think the English translation for the novel made it sound more like a joke...but the original said大好き and I think I should really bring it up
