I Sat on Campus Today

Success reserves itself to wed the

extraordinary

It petitions the unhappy

to believe,

and asks the believers to

see

listen,

but

but not to speak

Standing

on its terms

with a low yielding

density, all the while

engaged to the anguish

of established youth

and

affirming that

yes

eyes are dull

if they have

never seen

Sparks or stars or anything else

that can hurt you

It's not concerned with

much else

It will take all

or nothing

but it's patient

and believes that

You

are your the primary

measure of worth

It requires nothing less

than what you're willing to give up

No matter how quietly it is given

I saw today

I listened

felt even,

Without a singular

utterance

to speak of

And I bent to its winded conditions

and every phrase that was given to me

I accepted

and nothing hinted at

my ineptitude.

ugliness

passed me as if

I didn't exist

and my pages whispered

believe
