As I settle into my office chair, the familiar hum of the phone and the steady ping of incoming emails fill the room, signaling the start of another busy day. Xander was out of the country with a couple of friends so most of the stuff was left for me.

"Adriel?" Anastasias voiced came from the other side of the door

"Come in," I said as I replied to the email of my previous client

Ana walked in with a confused expression on her face. I glanced at her "What's wrong?"

"Your dad is here?"

I froze "Where is he?" I exclaimed pounding my hand on the desk. Ana flinched "In the lobby" she muttered

I barged past Ana and walked downstairs to the reception "Where is he" I spoke to millie

She pointed behind me. A familiar figure catches my eye, stirring up a storm of emotions within me – my father, someone I've long kept at arm's length. My steps falter as I approach him, a barrage of memories flooding my mind, each one a testament to our strained relationship. "What are you doing here?" My voice comes out colder than intended, laced with the bitterness of unresolved wounds. His presence is a reminder of years of disappointment and abandonment

"Good to see you too son"

I scoffed "Why are you here"

Dad looked around the building "Glad you kept it in shape"

"I'm not irresponsible like you" I shot at him

He glared at me "I'm still your dad. speak to me properly"

I laughed "Dad? please you're no dad"

"Love, are you coming?" A lady suddenly appeared placing a hand on Dad's upper arm. Dad faced her and smiled "Wait in the car for me," he said kissing her forehead

"New wife huh?" I asked

He nodded but kept silent

"She passed away" I spoke up causing Dad's mouth to gape open "What?"

"She passed away while you had a lovely life with your new wife" His response is as expected, a mere shrug of indifference. Despite the tumultuous relationship I had with my mother, her passing still leaves a void in my heart. Yet, my father's apathy only serves as a stark reminder of the fractured dynamics within our family.

"You don't know anything," he said

I raised a brow "Are you sure? Xavier and Xander may not know but I sure do" I continued "You made Xavier and Xander hate her. You're to blame" I said pointing at him "Have you ever wondered how your daughter was doing?"

He just looked at me. I laughed in incredulity "You're sick in the head."

"How's my girl doing?" He suddenly said with pleading in his eyes. I shook my head "Don't even. Just leave and go, I'm sure your wife is waiting for you"
