Chapter 8: Engagement Party

SASHA REIN SALVATORE

I am looking at my reflection in the mirror. My makeup is done. My hair is done. I am also wearing the dress we bought last Thursday. Today is the day that I know will change our lives.

It's not our wedding yet, I know that. But it will still happen. Next month, yeah.

"Are you ready?" Dad asked.

"Yeah." He guided me to the top of the staircase. No one can see me for now because it's a bit dark here upstairs. But I can hear the sound of music playing, the noise of people chattering, and the sound of the car carrying a guest.

"Good evening, everyone!" My Dad greeted that result to get the attention of our guests. "First, I want to thank each and every one of you for taking time out of your busy schedules to join us in this important event for our family." He added. He looked back at me. I'm not sure if he can see me, but he gave me a small smile.

"Tonight, let's witness the heir and heiress of two known companies of this generation. Be with me as we welcome the engagement of my only daughter, Sasha Rein Salvatore with the eldest son of Buenavista Group, Jax Travis Buenavista."

I hate this shit.

I tried my best not to roll my eyes and accept his hand.

He guided me to the center stage where our parents were waiting for us.

He placed his hand on my waist and I tried my best not to struggle or kick his ass when he slightly pinched my waist.

With gritted teeth, I looked at him. He just gave me a toothpaste commercial smile where you can see his perfectly crafted white teeth.

"They're so lovely, right? They're like a match made in heaven." I almost puke at his grandfather's statement. Yuck! Match made in heaven my ass.

I heard this man beside me giggled.

Plastic. If I know they're judging our family behind our back. Or simply eyeing an opportunity to attack us. Funny people.

Tired from greeting, smiling, and talking to every guest here. Damn it. Inimbita ba nila ang buong sangkatauhan? I'm not even familiar with most of them though some of them I've already seen on the televisions, in magazines and in the company. But I'm not close to any of them. Tsk.

What the hell is his problem?

I tried to ignore his presence, but heck he's making it obvious that he's staring at me.

I'm about to snuggle his neck when the music changed into a mellow one. His grandpa announced to give us some space so we can dance alone.

Damn it.
