Summary: Nathan tells the spittin chiclets podcast how he met Sidney when he was 15 years old and how he married Sidney's sister [they met when she was 16 so she's a year older than Nathan]

"How old were you when you first met Sid?" RA asks. "Um I think I was 14 or 15. So the reason I got my shirt on o'brien hockey supporting Andy O'Brien. Um yeah so my agent set me up with Andy O'Brien um and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. I'm getting Sidney Crosby's trainer I was 15. So one day he brought me to Sid's gym in Halifax, and I was freaking out I saw him walking up from his house and I was like freaking out like what is going on right now."
Nathan tells the them. "You could have lifted 400 pounds at that point." Ryan Whitney says.

"Yeah like I just and remember like him, my dad my dad drove me out and Andy were just all talking. I just did like high knees I wouldn't stop because Andy told me to do high knees. So I didn't stop for like 20 minutes." Nathan says "Going back and forth is this the whole workout?" Whitney says "I was just doing high knees because I was too scared to stop and ask if I should do something else and I was just looking at Sid the whole time. Like I wanted to impress him that I worked hard and I was like serious about hockey." Nathan tells them and they all laugh.

"I'm still doing these high knees and I see this girl walk from Sid's house over to where we were. She's looked like a year or two older than me and I was like in love already she was so pretty, and she walks up to me and asks what I'm doing. I told her I'm doing high knees. She laughed and said like "Yeah I can tell you've been doing them for like 20 minutes." Now I'm kinda embarrassed cause she watched me do this non stop and I probably looked like an idiot. But then she says "You can stop you know? They're gonna be talking for a while." And I just say like no no I'm good. She just laughs then says "Ok please stop cause I'm trying to introduce myself to the random person in my backyard." And I'm just thinking like ok I'll stop for a second introduce myself then go back to these high knees." He says

"You're telling me you see this girl, you introduce yourself and then you keep doing high knees." Biz asks as they all laugh "Yeah it's not my finest moment. But she sticks her hand out and says "I'm Sierra." I shake it and tell her who I am then I go back to my high knees like an idiot. She just looks at me like the hell is this guy doing? Then she walks over to Sid, Andy, and my Dad and I see her introduce herself to my dad she talks to them for a minute. Then Sid hands her a set of keys and she starts to walk off towards the house and as she passes me she goes "Have fun with those high knees Nate." I asked Andy who she was once he came back over to me and learned that was his sister and she was 16. I didn't see her again for a while, but I was hooked like in love." Nathan finishes that story

Biz, Whit, and RA ask him a bit more about Sidney. "Yeah it's it's pretty cool relationship we have, it's more of a brotherly thing. I'm you know I just kind of whatever Sid says I do you know he's so wise and uh he knows he's done it all and obviously um when I was 15 I never thought I'd be friends with the guy I would just want to get his autograph and a picture you know so it's cool it's worked out." Nathan tells them

"Did he kind of help you navigate things? As far as being a big prospect back at that time like going through stuff?" RA asks him "Yeah you know what Sid kind of let me figure it out for my own I think. The biggest thing that I take away from with that is just how hard he works I mean you hear it all the time but he is a freak in the gym." Nathan says before he continues with a story

"Uh it was my first workout with him ever so I mean I met him when I was 15 but, I got drafted by Colorado um 2013 I was still 17 years old. Sid and Andy always went to pei for around Canada day, so that would have been like a week after the draft, five days after the draft, and um they do like a a beach workout. So I get there I meet Sid I'm like fired up like I can't wait to work out with Sidney Crosby and we you know we're we're doing this this workout and I'm exhausted you know like I'm so bagged I just got in my dad drove me up to pei and we do 10 uh hill sprints up like a sand dune. We do ten uh hill sprints and he beats me on all nine to start like he crushed me on all nine."

"The tenth one getting a little rattled a little bit right?" Whit asks him "No not at all I'm like yes like he's beating me like this is great like I was like too scared like you know, but on the 10th sprint I got the head start and I was beating him I was halfway up the hill, and then I feel this like hand on my ankle and then my face smacks into the sand. I don't even know him I'm 17 so I was beating him up the hill, but he literally grabbed my ankle and like dragged me down the sand dune and then and then he finished the race and got his tenth. We both kinda laughed and he didn't really acknowledge it he walked off then I hear from behind me a girl laugh I turn around and see Sierra she walks up to me and we start talking and she says "Yeah Sid likes to cheat when he races on the dunes, that's why I don't do them with him anymore." We laugh then we start talking about the draft for a bit and she asks like if I'm excited to go to Colorado and all that stuff and then she's like "Well I have to go, but here's my number text me. I'd like to come see you play down there." And then she just walks away and I'm just thinking like oh my god I just got Sierra Crosby's number." Nathan finished the story

"That had to have been like one the greatest days of your life. I mean working out with Sid then getting his sisters' number?" Whit asks him "Oh yeah easily a top 5 day of my life." Nathan says "I mean clearly it worked out for you. You ended up marrying her." RA says "WAIT you married her?" Biz says shocked "Biz buddy how did you not know this?" Whit asks him "I don't know I didn't even know you were married." He says still shocked. "Yeah yeah we got married a little over 3 years ago." Nate tells him "Wow I had no idea. Well congrats man." Biz says "Thank you, we actually just found out that she's pregnant." Nathan tells them with a smile "Really?" RA says "Wow congrats man that's awesome." Whit tells Nate "That's awesome man, I'm assuming Sid's okay with you and her being married?" Biz asks

"He wasn't too happy when he first found out that we started dating, but then he was fine with it and when I asked her parents if I could marry her I asked Sid too. And he was all excited." He tells them.
