We pull into the parking lot at Danny's diner. As we park and get out Richard and Kyle make their way to the car to walk in with us. Me beside Richard while Lacy walk's beside Kyle, Kyle starts talking to Lacy about the game all the while Lacy looks like her face is going to explode from blushing so hard. Snickering under my breath I turn my attention to the husky voice drawing my attention away.
"I'm really glad you decided to come and hang out, Kyle you know Lacy and this is Leah she's new to our school."
Kyle and I nod at one another as we make our way to a corner booth. The waiter comes asking what we would like.

Richard and Kyle speak up  at the same time saying "the usual" while Lacy says "strawberry  milkshake please."  The waiters eyes landing on me  "I'll have a chocolate milkshake." I notice Richard's eyes on me.

"That's my usual guess we've got something in common wonder what else we have in common." He says.

"I don't know I guess we will just have to find out now won't we?" Shocking myself at just how confident I sounded because I'm normally more of a laid back go with the flow quiet kind of girl but something stirs inside me when I'm around him.

Giving me a knowing side smirk looking satisfied with my answer. Leaning in to whisper  in my ear just loud enough for only me to hear "maybe sooner rather than later."

The feel of his minty breath on my ear was enough to bring chills all over my body.

Noticing the distance was back between us I begin to sit up straight and turn my attention to Lacy and Kyle's conversation.
" I'll never understand how you have all straight A's AND are in AP classes AND on top of that your one  of the star players on the baseball team. All the while I'm  over  here struggling to keep up with my classes and have an actual life outside of school." Lacy says looking defeated.

" And I'll never understand why it's so hard for everyone. but I guess not everyone can be on my level."  Kyle says while giving us a cocky smile.

"Kyle, not everyone has an eidetic memory, some people have to actually study hard to keep up with stuff let alone having great parents who don't ride you constantly about your  grades or sports." Say Richard.

Noticing his voice changed from happy to stern all of a sudden made me want to ask him about it but I can tell it was a touchy subject so deciding it was best to  overall feign ignorance our milk shakes arrive and the once awkward moment has now passed.

Deciding on the new topic I stop eating my milkshake "Ok so who's going to tell me what this spring fling is about,I've been seeing posters all on the walls of the school." Looking at the three of them they give me a look like I was from another planet.

"Do you not have dances were you are  from?" Asked Kyle

Rolling her eyes Lacy looks away from Kyle "ignore him he's a smart aleck to everyone, the spring flings here are pretty serious considering we are a small town and just about everyone goes minus the one or two people who avoid things like this at all cost. Don't worry I'm going to help you find the perfect dress!"

"We didn't really have dances at my old school we just normally had football games and they were always a BIG todo." I say looking nervous "I've never actually been to anything that requires to have a formal dress."

" Im sure you'll look great in anything you decide to wear." Says Richard.  Blushing at his words I decide to focus on my chocolate shake.

Everyone finishing there shakes the boys pay for ours refusing our money.

Saying our thanks and  goodbyes we head to the car. Richard stops me in my tracks by gently wrapping his large hand around my wrist. "Can I have your number seeing as we are friends now it makes sense right?" Smiling his ever so confident smile he lets go of my wrist and hands me his phone.

"A-Alright." Was all I could choke out before doing what he asked.

waving our final goodbyes to one another I get in the car and pull out of the parking lot.
