"Well this is just turning out so unexpectedly." Lacy says turning her head to me.

"What I think it turned out pretty good." I say to her while keeping my focus on the road.

"That's what I mean Leah unexpected in a good way. Do you not see the way Richard was staring at you while you spoke tonight it was like all his focus was on you and only you."

"What I see is a guy who may have some issues at home with his parents and who most likely doesn't have the time to commit to anything more than a friend, And excuse me but was it not you who Kyle spoke to all evening? I think he may secretly like you!" Trying the best I can to change the topic from me to her and as much as I liked Richard I still have eyes and I can definitely see that he doesn't have time for a serious relationship.

"Oh please don't even give me hope with Kyle I may be in love with him but he would definitely ruin me! I'm not even sure he can commit to anything other than relationship baseball. He has this (no strings attached rule) even if on some planet he does actually like me in the some way he would probably just cheat on me after awhile. he's never even had a serious relationship!"

"Aw I'm sorry lace I just mean I noticed he's comfortable talking to you and he just seemed interested is all."
Feeling sorry for Lacy's situation with Kyle I'd say anything to get her out of her sudden gloomy mood. Then it hits me "How about this next Friday we go pick out some dresses for the spring fling?"

"Oh my gosh yes!!! I need the distraction and I could definitely use the help on picking out the right dress."

"Great then it's settle!"

Dropping Lacy off at her house I make my way back home. To my surprise my parents are off to sleep considering they both wake up early for work. I head to my room to get ready for bed . Laying down I think about everything that's changed in my life in just a week. Some bad but mostly good. I smile at the thought of my new friends as I close my eyes I drift soundly to sleep.

My second week at school seemed to fly so fast that all I did was blink and it was Thursday. Finishing up 5th period Lacy and I head to our lockers to put up our books and head to the bus.Seeing Kyle head the other direction I notice Lacy watching him as he passes people in the hall. " Kyle's parents are pretty rich so he has a nice car to drive himself to school with." She says while watching his figure fade away.

"who needs a car to constantly drive to school with you have no idea how much gas money I'm saving just by taking the bus. Plus that gas money would put a huge dint in my allowance."

"That's so funny, Richard said the same thing  when I asked why he doesn't drive to school." Says Lacy.

"Huh that's funny." I say brushing it off like it was nothing . But the more I hear about Richard the more I realize we have a lot in common.

"Well I on the other hand can't afford a car. With my grades I'd be shocked if my parents keep letting me live in the house."

"Geez Lacy are they that bad?" I ask her turning my head not believing what I'm hearing.

"Haha goodness no I was kidding. But I mean I have a couple of B's and C's .. there may also be a F somewhere between history and science."

A shocked expression coming to my face "Well you may need to start thinking about a tutor for that. We can't have you failing junior year."

"You know I'll really think about that." She says. While we both board the bus we wait for everyone to get on. Richard walks up the steps and strides right over to me and Lacy sitting in front of us. Since  we did decided to be friends he's changed his seat and now sits with us. He and Kyle even sit with us during lunch.

"So what you are girls doing this tomorrow?" Richard asks while turning around to face us.

"We are going shopping for our spring fling dresses and maybe just hang out. Why what's up?" I ask him.

"Oh so y'all are going to the dance, anyone ask y'all yet?" Asking while turning his full attention to me.

"Not yet but I'm sure there will be a few bites by the end of next week. Plus the dance is 2 weeks away we've got time!" Lacy speaks up.

"Well if you girls want to Kyle just found out his parents are going to be out of town this weekend and he's throwing a party at his house tomorrow. I can text you the details later. "Sounds good!" I say nodding to him as the bus reaches my house I say my goodbyes to them.
