Valerona sat in her chair at the roundtable by herself, the silence only interrupted by the rummaging of her purse and her popping lips. She applied a little more chapstick to her lips and returned the stick into the purse filled with other chapsticks.

She sat there, looking at her swaying feet while rubbing and popping her lips. The door opened and she looked up without moving her head.

"Valerona. Why are you always here? Do you not have any place to go to?" Ael asked with his arms behind his back, walking to his desk.

"Mmm." She looked back down at her shoes.

"Is something the matter?" Ael inquired as he searched through the papers on his desk.

"Mmmm..." She turned away from him.

"You are always free to speak your mind." He caught a sliver of her eyes peering at him past her shoulder. Ael tried to smile, "Well, you look healthier, now. Congratulations on your progress."

Her eyes widened a bit, "Healthier? Oh—yes, I guess you're right." She rubbed her lips now smooth and soft, compared to her torn lips from before.

"It's that stick still, is it? How long are you planning on being attached to that man? He's already dead."

Valerona tilted her head away from him and mumbled quietly. Ael put his hands on the table and furrowed his brow, "Valerona, I hope this doesn't mean..."

He looked at the back of her head and scrunched his brows further, suddenly returning to a neutral position in his chair, "What could he have done to make you this conflicted?"

"You wouldn't understand I think," she mumbled again.

"But I want to," he spoke plainly.

"You're a golden boy, and I'm not. Thats the difference."

"Golden boy?"

"Being an Omega is the worst, but sometimes I wonder what it'd be like," Valerona raised her head and let her black hair fall down to her shoulders, "to just exist. To feel nothing, need nothing, want nothing. They don't feel the pain of the drain—"

In a burst of light, Ael appeared in front of her, his vein-popping grip on the table creaked the wood. His pupils glowed green as his head hung low to her face.

"Do not try to alleviate the struggles of Omegas. I may be an Alpha, but from anyone here, I've seen the most."

Valerona didn't flinch at his presence and instead kept talking, "I think I'd find it better to feel nothing as I'm used." Ael lifted his hand from the table and backed away. Remaining silent, he looked down at her, his eyes returned to normal.

Valerona turned to Ael with wide eyes, "We're all being used anyway, after all."

He sighed and covered his face as he walked back to his desk. "So, where is Falan?"

"He left to Bertrouge last night."

"He's up to something. I'm going to have to monitor him," Ael stated as he approached the door and looked back at Valerona.
