she is a queen who sits upon a throne
of lies,
of heartbreak,
of pain.
she knows intimately
that there is much to be understood
about greed,
and the strength it gives
to those who were once weak.
she knows firsthand
that there is immense power
in taking back
what is owed to you.
she thinks, perhaps persephone was not as foolish as we'd like to believe.
she thinks, perhaps persephone had eaten those pomegranate seeds on purpose.
because on the fields of earth,
persephone was a princess,
but with death by her side,
she was a queen.
she thinks, perhaps that is what is owed to me.
