"Crap." I muttered.

"What's wrong?" Asked Zeke, stepping forward. I sighed as we stood in front of my house. It was now two in the afternoon and my dad was officially going to kill me. Not only did I stay out all night, I slept on the beach with a boy I hardly knew. But I missed school and didn't inform him about anything. I might as well be already dead.

I looked at Zeke, "it's just that my dad's going to kill me." I replied. He smiled, "don't worry," he said, as if it was that easy. "Right, well I should go now." I said, he looked at the ground. "I admit Harper, I had fun last night." I smiled, "so did I, and thanks...For being there." I finished.

He stepped forward, "you're welcome." He leaned in, I felt myself tense up as his face got closer to mine. I breathed in, his face inches apart.

"HARPER!"

I jumped back, we both turned as my dad walked down the porch steps. Furry in his face, "you should go." I whispered, pushing on his chest. "Go." I muttered, he took off running down the street.

"Dad, " I started. "Harper Santiago, I have never been more upset with you in my entire life!" He snapped, taking a breath. "Dad I kn-"

"NO! I let you go off to help a friend and you don't come back for the rest of the night. I call Billy and he tells me you're not there! I stay up all night wondering where you are and you don't even bother giving a call or anything! You skip school and then you come home with a boy I don't know! I ALMOST CALLED THE POLICE FOR GOODNESS SAKE!"

"I'm sorry dad, it's just that." I felt tears forming in my eyes. I couldn't possibly tell him about my stupid love life. "I was stupid." I finished.

"I've never been so disappointed." He muttered, tears now rolled down my cheeks. "I'm sorry." I whispered. He stayed silent, before wrapping his arms around me. Pulling me into a hug, "please don't ever do that again." He whispered, kissing my forehead. I cried into his chest, "I lost your mother, it would kill me if I lost you."

So the outcome turned out to be, nothing.

I didn't get grounded or anything, well I did lose my car for a month, but that's not a big deal to me.

I grabbed a pair of jeans and an old gymnastics t shirt, quickly putting them on. I walked to my bed sitting down, I laid down, starring at my ceiling.

I still couldn't believe Jake lied to me, saying I was his imprint. Anyone should be his imprint it's Bella, not me. I was done, officially done. No matter how heart breaking it is, I was done with Jacob Black. After all these years, it's just not worth it anymore. I will not be the next best thing.

I jumped up, grabbing my converse and slipping them. I looked in the mirror, putting on a bit of make up. I walked to my jeans that laid on the floor, reaching in the pocket and taking out the piece of paper that we ripped off from a flyer. I un folded it, grabbing my phone and typing in the number.

It had been a week since I've seen Zeke.

He answered on the second ring, "hello?" I took a breath. "Zeke, it's Harper!" I said, "Harper? I've been waiting a week to hear your voice." I felt a smile form on my lips. "I was just wondering if..." I took another breath. "Maybe you're like to hang out." I asked.

Silence.

"Yeah sure! It'll take me a while to get over there but I'll meet you at the beach by the little store. Sounds good?" I sat back on my bed, "sounds good." I said. "Great! See you in a bit." The line went dead. I dropped my phone on my bed, running a hand through my hair. I stood back up, looking into the mirror. I grabbed my brush, running it through me hair. I opened a drawer, looking for a hair band, my eyes landed on a straightener my dad got me for my 15th birthday. I took it out, plugging it in and starting on my hair.

I don't normally ever fix up my hair, I like to keep it in it's natural curls, but a little change never hurts.

I smiled to my reflection, I actually liked the girl in the mirror.

_____

"Hey likin' the hair!!" Zeke said as I walked up to his car. "Hi and thanks." I smiled, "so where shall we go from here?" He asked, leaning against the drivers door. "Hm, how about we go for a walk on the beach?" I suggested, "sounds good to me." He said, "my lady." He held out his arm, I softly laughed, grabbing onto it.

"So Harper, how's life?" He asked, I looked up at him, His milky brown eyes starred into mine. I couldn't help but smile. "It's not good or bad, easy or complicated. More in the middle." I answered. He smiled.

Our walk down the beach was filled with laughter.

As we got closer to the end, I couldn't help but notice how a group of girls stared at Zeke. "You know those girls are starring at you right?" I said, he looked over. Sure enough there they were, huddling into a group and giggling. They couldn't be any older than my age. He looked down at me, a smile on his face. "Let them stare." He said, taking an arm and wrapping it over my shoulder. I caught onto his hint, wrapping and around his waist and leaning into him.

I could feel the daggers of the girls burn into my skull as we passed them.

I let out a giggle, girls could get  jealous so easily.

"Woah there little girl!" I looked down as Zeke's arm left my shoulder. He reached down, a little girl sat at his feet. A smile on her cute face. Zeke reached out picking her up to her feet. I smiled, kneeling to eye level with her. "Hi there princess." I said, a grin now on my face.

"CLAIRE!" Someone called out, I stood back up. Shock ran through me as Quil came running towards us. Scooping up who I assumed to be Claire. He froze as he spotted me, I felt Zeke's arm wrap around my waist. "Hey Harper." Quil said, a smile forming on his lips. "Hi Quil." I replied, there stood a silence. "We've missed you. You know Embry and me. More Jake."

"I missed you and Embry too." I said, not including Jake. Hoping he'd take the hint that I'm not on good terms with Jake. His eyes lit up, "They're actually right over there!"He pointed further down the beach where they stood. "EMBRY! JAKE!" He yelled.

I felt my face flush, glancing a look at Zeke who looked confused. My heart started racing, "actually we should go!" I said, turning around and grabbing onto Zeke'w wrist. "No wait!" Quil pulled me back.

Quil you idiot!

I sighed as Embry walked up, instantly his eyes averted to Zeke's arm around my waist. He looked back up, a questioning look on his face. I looked past him, Jake stood back.

His eyes set on Zeke. Could this get any worse. I looked up at Zeke, slightly pulling away, his arm fell from my waist. I grabbed onto it, just so he wouldn't feel bad. "Harper we haven't seen you in forever!" Embry smiled, grabbing my wrist and pulling me into a hug.

Embry's never been the one to hug.

I pulled away, "it's nice to see you." I said, "but we have to go." I lied. Grabbing onto Zeke and pulling him away. "What was that?" He asked, "I'm not on good terms with the guy in the back." I said, he stopped and turned around, spotting Jake who kept starring. "Why? What'd he do?" I looked into his warm eyes, "he's the one who broke my heart." I whispered, which made no difference since they could still hear.

"Oh." He mumbled.

He stepped forward, cupping my face in his hands and pressing his lips to mine.

I felt my body tense up. Butterflies flew like crazy in my stomach.

He pulled back a smile on his face, "what the hell was that for?" I asked, anger now filling the air. "I thought I told you that I-" "I know, you don't want a relationship, but I thought it'd make that guy jealous, especially after losing a girl like you." I felt my face flush.

That had to be the sweetest thing ever.

I turned around, Jake stood, his fist clenched. As our eyes met, he took off running.

I felt hurt in the pit of my stomach, but it was covered by the sweet taste of revenge.
