" I feel like a motherfucking onion," Jace grumbles, wiping some of the excess dirt and grease from her face, nearly slicing her skin open with her machete. Rue can only giggle, wiping some from herself as the two walk through the woods. " All these layers of dirt and sweat are annoying."

" Well, what, do you expect when we've been in the woods for the past eight days?"

" I've lived in the forest. I still don't like this, though," Ace grumbles. Rue lets another giggle escape her lips, admiring the elder more and more. As the days passed, Jace let loose, allowing the thoughts to escape past her lips. " How many people do you believe are left?"

" Eleven, maybe? I thought thirteen were killed in the blood bath. It's been quiet for a while now."

" Something ain't right," Jace whispers beneath her breath. Her steps stop, Rue following. Jace looks around, waiting for the crack of a twig or a branch being moved. The loud crack of a tree makes Jace jump. She couldn't see anybody, but was able to see a giant orb of fire moving through the air, and moving towards them.
