Needless to say, the drive home was completely awkward.

"so... what was that?" Jenny asked.

"nothing"

"well, it was clearly something..."

"it was nothing. Just shut up and keep driving" I snapped at her.

"Hey, why are you acting so bitchy?!"

"why do you always ask so many questions?!"

"because I'm an analyzer. Now answer my questions!"

"I said it was nothing"

"and yet you were dragging me away from Brian, so something must have happened while you were waiting for me outside. What was he doing outside anyway? Is he coming back to work?"

"no. he's not"

"then?"

"then nothing! Stop asking questions! I told you! It's annoying!"

"of course it's annoying, because I'm right, so something did happen between the both of you, what is it?"

"it's nothing, we're just not friends anymore, now shut up!"

"is that why he stopped working?"

I stopped answering her questions.

"Zach?"

"what?!"

"I asked, is that why he stopped working at the bakery? Do you really think it's fair to put your favor above the rest of the family?"

"it's not why he stopped working at the bakery"

"then what is it?"

Another silence.

"fine. It might be the reason why he stopped working at the bakery"

"so you made us lose a very handy and great worker because you're not friends anymore?"
