"What?"

"You are gonna be a mom",Chris smiled.

Anyone would have thought that he had won the Olympic medal by the way his face beamed with happiness and pride. Although it was a different matter that his medal was lying right in front of him.

Stephanie was just overly shocked.

"You mean there's someone breathing inside me? Remove it! There's a bloody human inside me! Holy mother of cows! Get it ou-"

"Sshh. Calm down. That's ours to keep.", Chris said peacefully.

That sentence itself slid some senses into her emptied brain.

Stephanie had never thought that something like that could even happen. Everything apart from Chris had been so negative that accepting anything else happy was just plain hard.

Best part of their entire relationship was that Chris was aware of this. He understood Stephanie and hence had already thought over everything.

"Stephanie I know what you are thinking. But things will definitely get better. I promise. You'll be the strict and overprotective mom and I would be the cool dad.", Chris basically cooed.

Stephanie frowned.

"What's wrong?", Chris asked.

Her face wrinkled more out of annoyance.

"Why do you get to be the cool dad and I the strict mom?", she complained.

"Because basically according to our sexuality I'm the dad and you the mo-"

"I know! God you're turning into Steve", Stephanie cut him off. "I'm saying why are you the cool parent and I the strict and uncool one?"

Chris' mouth opened and closed again by what he had just heard. He didn't expect her to accept the entire 'baby thing' so quickly.

"So... so you are okay with being a mom?", he asked aghast.

Stephanie looked at him quizically.

"The baby is breathing as I speak. Why will I be upset about it? It's yours as much as it's mine", she said smiling sweetly.

Why does she suddenly give me the mom vibes?

Chris heaved a sigh of relief. He didn't think hat she would like the fact that she was pregnant.

"Aren't you upset?", he asked.

"No.... If anything I feel happy because it's yours", she explained.

"What about the 'REMOVE  IT' part before?", he said mimicking her.

"Ah.. that. I was afraid it was aliens or something", she said embarrassed of herself.

They talked on and on like normal people about what they could do and how they could arrange their wedding before her stomach started to bulk up.

"Where's Marilene?", Stephanie asked.

"You'll see when it's time", he winked.

Out of nowhere his phone started to ring. It turned out to be Nathan's call. He picked it up and heard a short message from him.

"I need to talk to you. In private"

"How is she?", Jake asked Dr.Smith.

"Somehow her condition is just deteriorating after each conversation and discussion. She becomes mentally stable for a short time when she's with you though, while simply goes wild on the other doctors. I think we need to drive her off the topic that she's unstable mentally and crazy."

Jake simply nodded.

They had found out about Angela Bats' condition and were trying their level best at curing her before she went on a trial. The things she had done was terrible indeed but not terrible enough for what she herself had gone through.

Last time, she asked for a pencil and a paper. Never wrote anything on the paper but stabbed a doctor in the eye brutally until she was sedated.

"Since you connect with her, you go talk to her for now. Say something sweet and let's see if something improves.", Dr.Smith informed.

Again, Jake simply nodded.

He pushed open the door and sat across from her. It was a small room with a bed at the side, a separate bathroom and a table and two chairs. It was not a padded cell as she didn't yet show suicidal tendencies. The wall right beside the door was a glass wall. Angela would not be able to see anything but everyone on the other side could observe her freely.

Angela and Jake were only separated by a table. His fear had vanished as he spent time with her.

"Hey Angela", he greeted.

"Are you my lawyer or something? You visit me so often", Angela said with a blank face.

For a start it was an important change. Angela din't scream out Mrs.Bats.

"No but I am your friend", Jake smiled.

Angela scoffed.

"Friend? You only think I'm sick. Sick as a dog. Sick as a dog. SICK AS A DOG!", Angela screamed.

Her eyes were filled with madness. And tears.

As she yelled, the guards came into the room to restrain her but Jake told them to stop.

He grabbed her wrists and jerked her face towards him. He could smell the sedatives on her breath. He wondered where his sudden confidence came from.

"You are not sick. You are not crazy. You are just not like the others. If anything you are human", he consoled her softly.

Then one of the guards injected her with the substance.

But before she went asleep Jake could've sworn that he had seen a flicker of normalcy and gratefulness on her face.

I'll definitely help her.
