first day on the job

Skylar's pov 

it is currently 6 in the morning, I finished getting ready and I'm about to wake Austin up, I walk into his room, turn the light on and he covers his face 

a:" what are you doing, it's 6 o'clock in the morning "

s:" it's time to get up, I gotta show you how to do some chores around here "

he chuckles 

a:" princess, listen, I'm just here so I don't go to jail "

s:" yeah you see, that's not going to work here, your living under our roof so your gonna contribute, you have five minutes to get up until I dump ice cold water on you "

a:" ok, I'll be out in twenty minutes, I need to take a shower "

s:" great, meet me at the barn when your done "

* 20 minutes later *

Austin walks into the barn 

a:" so, what are we doing "

s:" well first, we're going to groom and feed the horses "

I walk into majesty's stall 

s:" hey girl, did you sleep good? "

he chuckles 

a:" you know she's not going to talk back right? "

s:" horses talk back you just gotta know how to listen "

a:" how? "

s:" well, you see how her ears are back, that means she's got a lot of energy and she is hitting her hoof on the floor, that means either she's probably due for some new shoes or there's something stuck in her hoof, horses talk to you in many ways, you just gotta know how to listen "

he nods 

s:" do you want to pet her? "

a:" no she'll bite me "

I chuckle 

s:" she's not going to bite you, c'mon "

he hesitantly walks in the stall, I grab his hand and put it on her nose 

s:" see, she's sweet "

he turns his head and looks at me 

a:" yeah, she is "

just then Noah walks into the barn 

n:" hey Skylar "

I quickly back away from Austin 

s:" oh hi Noah "

n:" who's this? "

s:" this is Austin, Austin this is Noah my... Friend "

God I hate calling him that, I just wish he could see what's been in front of him for years 

n:" nice to meet you man "

a:" yeah "

s:" I'll be right back Austin, I'm just gonna talk to Noah for a second "

he nods and I walk out with Noah 

n:" sorry I wasn't responding to your texts, I spent the weekend with Victoria, she doesn't like me talking to you "

s:" yeah I know, how are you two? "

n:" we got into a fight this weekend so we're kinda taking a break, plus I think I got my eye on someone else "

I get really excited but try to stay calm 

s:" oh really, do I know her? "

he looks at me 

n:" I think you do "

I blush 

n:" anyway, let's do something on Friday night, maybe meet up at the diner like old times, I want to make it up to you for not texting you back "

s:" yeah sure, I'd love to "

n:" great, see you then, bye Skylar "

he kissed my cheek 

s:" bye "

after he left I touched my cheek where he kissed it and smiled like a idiot 

a:" I take it he asked you out "

I jump because he scared me 

s:" were you listening? "

a:" pfft don't flatter yourself princess, it's written all over your face "

s:" if you must know, yes I think he did "

a:" well, be careful alright, I don't trust him "

I roll my eyes and walk back to the barn, show Austin how to do everything then continue with my day 

I can't wait till Friday, he finally hinted that he likes me or atleast I think he did, I just hope that I'm right because I can't seem to shake this feeling that none of this is real, almost like it's all a lie
