Fengguang ignored everyone and walked directly towards Bai Zhe with a bright, elegant smile on her face.

"Welcome to my banquet."

Yesterday, she was a passionate red rose, but today, she became an elegant white rose without thorns.

"Miss Xia, welcome back from overseas," Bai Zhe politely replied in a way that no one would be able to tell that he had met the Xia family miss beforehand.

Even though the two were simply smiling at one another when they had exchanged greetings, the other guests still noticed the strange atmosphere between them.

Xia Chao could feel that something was off. Was it possible that Fengguang had mistaken Bai Zhe for Song Mo? He headed towards them and asked, "Fengguang, this is...?"

"Enough. I already showed my face at this banquet. I'm going to handle my own matters now," Fengguang directly cut Xia Chao off mid-sentence and clasped hands with Bai Zhe.

"Goodbye, father."

The moment she finished speaking and without waiting for him to respond, she pulled on Bai Zhe's hand and ran out of the ballroom.

Xia Chao's expression instantly darkened and with so many guests in the vicinity, he couldn't hit the table with his fist and order his servants to bring his daughter back!

Once Fengguang escaped the ballroom, she dashed for the exit. The Xia family mansion was enormous so the path to the door from the ballroom was a good distance away. So shortly after they started running, Fengguang slowed down and ended up strolling with Bai Zhe's hand firmly in her grasp.

"Miss Xia," Bai Zhe calmly called out after realizing she had a death grip on his hand and he couldn't pull away. "I am not your fiance."

Meaning you're holding onto the wrong person.

"I know you're not him. You're even better than him," Fengguang bluntly replied while continuing forward.

"Miss Xia can still go back and save your reputation as well-mannered."

"It's just a label." She smiled back at him. "I think you're much more important than an empty title."

Bai Zhe replied without any expression, "What an honor."

Fengguang laughed. When they had finally reached the door, she abruptly stopped without a word but did not let go of Bai Zhe's hand.

Bai Zhe was a patient person so when he saw the other party go quiet, he maintained the same silence.

However, Fengguang's quietness was brief. She looked up at him and with stars glittering in her eyes.

"My high-heels really hurt my feet, what should I do?"

Bai Zhe: "..."

What to do?

How would he know what to do?

Why was it that women like to buy heels that aren't comfortable for their feet?

He didn't reply to the question. Fengguang didn't find it awkward that he didn't answer her. She decidedly kicked off her heels and stood barefoot on the cold floor. She then stepped onto his leather shoes, their bodies pressing closely against each other.

Bai Zhe hadn't expected her to suddenly approach him so closely and his natural instinct was to step back but Fengguang wrung her arms around his neck. She stood on her tippy toes and whispered softly into his ear, "If you cause me to fall and I become disabled to such an unlucky fall, you have to take care of me for the rest of my life."

Bai Zhe began to think if the person in front of him was a man, he would definitely kick them aside and then viciously stomp on them several times until their spine snapped.

Unfortunately, the one before him was the Xia family heiress.

"Did the Xia family fail to teach you restraint during your education?" He criticized without changing the gentleness in his expression. If anyone else had witnessed such warmth, they might have assumed they heard the words wrong.

However, Fengguang was a thick-skinned individual.

"We have kissed, hugged, and even went to a motel together. We have such a close relationship, let's leave restraint for other people," she said smilingly as she rested her head into his chest.
