Daniella halted to a stop as her attention went towards Jacob. She rose an eyebrow. Why was he there? "Jacob?" she came out with, eyes holding curiosity. He smiled brightly at her and approached her. She creased her eyebrows, thoughts running in circles.

"Hey." he greeted, entering the shade of the trees. She merely pursed her lips and nodded in return. She crossed her arms and started the long awaited trek. Jacob fell into step with her, a small content smile on his face.

She let out a hum and gave him a side glance, hands behind her back. "What brings you here, with me?" she asked, bringing her hand out and picking a wild berry off of a nearby bush they walked by. It was his turn to purse his lips, in thought, coming up with something. But her knew better, she saw through his lies after all. Something Bella could barely do.

"As I said, protection." he repeated his words from the other day. She narrowed her eyes, suspicious. 'That sounds like an excuse.' she thought, plopping the berry into her mouth after rubbing it on her hoodie sleeve.

They past by a tree, her brushing her fingers on it, eyes holding no emotion as she thought of reasons. "You dare lie to someone who knows you like the back of their hand, even if we just met months ago?" she quirked an eyebrow, a passive tinge in her voice.

He was slightly taken aback. "How would you know?" he squinted his eyes at her. She simply shrugged and pointed towards the tree beside her. "We're walking around in circles." she added, tapping the tree and giving it a soft pat. "You're a wolf. You should have noticed."

He blinked, flushing in embarrassment. He swallowed and smiled awkwardly. "You caught me. Again." he laughed out, before they stopped rounding the tree. He let out a defeated sigh. "I wanted to be around you." he finally admitted.

Curiosity flashed through her body as her movements ticked to a stop. "What?" she murmured, obscured, placing her hands behind her back, taut. For her, he was unclear. So jumbled. He always had second thoughts and it mainly contained of Bella. Yes, she might be sour about him having romantic feelings for the Swan girl, she had no control over anyone, especially in a world she didn't belong to.

"I can't tell you," he started, as Daniella's face fell from his words, "yet." he finished, uplifting her spirits, making him sigh in relief inaudibly. He didn't want to see the crestfallen expression on her face. Not now, not ever.

A playful grin made it's way on his lips. He ducked making her squeal as she was thrown over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. She let out a laugh as her upper body swung side to side as he started to walk.

A giggle left her lips as arms snaked around her waist from behind, hauling her up into the air, her legs dangling

A giggle left her lips as arms snaked around her waist from behind, hauling her up into the air, her legs dangling. She squirmed as he spun her around, before letting her go. She quickly recovered and ran away from, him trailing, speedily behind, a big grin on his face.

he had never felt this happy when he spent his time with Bella and Daniella was doing it effortlessly. His heart wasn't burdened of trying to be someone who he wasn't, acting like her was still the old Jacob was nothing to him when around her. He felt free, like a bird.

He smiled in thought, subconsciously stopping his chase, just standing in the middle of the forest. Daniella looked behind her, seeing Jacob smiling to himself. She made a weird face and ran by him, lightly smacking his cheek, bolting faster away, tumbling on her feet. It was the only weakness of merfolks. Even when they come to land, their feet are the most vulnerable part of them as they use tails, not feet and legs.

He jolted in surprise, scowling playfully before going after her. To her, this was something she longed from him and she got it. It made her heart jump in glee. But, just how long will this happiness last? Things aren't made eternal after all, even her slowly turning stone, beating heart.
