Chapter 10 A New Teacher

Selene was last to join the dinner. She had gotten distracted by a room which was not yet explored by her. Her father and Alex were both seated at their places waiting for her. After she sat on the chair, maids started coming in to place the dishes in an orderly manner. Because it was a the monthly dinner gathering the dishes were grander than usual. Selene dug into her food quietly while a dragon who was in the form of a ring in the finger asked questions telepathically continuously about the people present on the dining table.

'Who is that boy?'

'My brother.'

'An unrelated one?'

'Adopted.'

'And what is the reason of the adoption?'

'A reason I don't know of.'

'I see. Is that man over there your father?'

'Who else do you think he is?'

'Hmm except the hair and the colour of eyes there is nothing else matching.'

'Should I take this as an insult?'

'Maybe. Oh but where is your mom?'

'Missing....'

'Is that an interesting mystery I see? Was she kidnapped? did she offend someone? Could it be -'

'Shut up.'

'But I am bored.'

'I had warned you before about that but you didn't listen, now shut up.'

Once they had completed their meals, the Duke said" I have some news for you both."

"What is it father?" Alex asked.

"Since you had asked me to change your tutors as he wasn't sufficient and Selene had also asked me for the same thing, I decided to hire the same teacher for you two. He will be starting with you two from next month, the date has not been set yet though."

"What?!"

A month had passed after the Duke announced about Selene's new tutor, who would be teaching her along with Alex. Selene's three months' break and her private lessons with her father had come to an end. The new tutor her father had for her and Alex would be starting from tomorrow.

Selene was lying on the bed after she was done preparing for the next day. She had heard that the new teacher is a little different from the previous ones. She would be taking all classes from him except magic practicals since no one knows she had awakened.

Books on literature, magical theories, history etc. was on the table beside her bed.

"Are you excited for tomorrow?" Asked Lumen who was lying on the pillow next to her.

"Do I look excited to you?" Selene  asked.

Lumen looked at her face carefully for sometime, then said "No."

Selene sighed, although she was a bit curious about her new teacher, she was not at all enthusiastic about learning with Alex. At first she had thought she might be able to change his bad impression about her but after listening to his thoughts she is almost certain that his impression is permanent.

He looked at her as though she was the most dangerous criminal he had met in his whole life. Once when she entered the library and saw him get up immediately after noticing her and going out of the library after giving her a cold look. She knew that he avoided her because of the previous Selene's behavior towards him but she did the get a bit ruffled at the sight of him avoiding her like a plague.
