In the wake of progress,
We blindly forged ahead,
Consuming without restraint,
Ignoring nature's subtle plea.
The signs were there, clear as day,
Yet we turned a blind eye,
Chasing fleeting desires,
Unaware of the impending doom.
Forests fell, oceans choked,
Skies darkened with our greed,
As we dug deeper into the earth,
Extracting its lifeblood without remorse.
Now the consequences loom large,
Climate change's grip tightens its hold,
The warnings once ignored,
Echo in the howling winds and rising tides.
We had our chance to mend our ways,
To heal the wounds we inflicted,
But time slips through our fingers like sand,
And now it's too late to turn back the tide.
