Ch. 1

Devin POV

I sat on the couch watching the News, Mom walked back to her room, she was dressed in heels and a plain black mini dress,

She walked into the room, she put her phone in the top of her dress in her Bra,

"Okay sweetheart, I should be back by three, lock the doors and my number is on the fridge if you need anything," She said

I stood up,

"The News said it's dangerous, someone is taking grown women off the streets," I said

Mom go on her knees in front of me,

"Don't worry sweetheart, I will be careful," She said kissing my forehead,

"Make sure you go to bed on time, I'll be home to get you ready for school okay," She said

I nodded hugging her,

She hugged me back,

She stood up and straightened her dress and walked out, I locked the doors,

"My name is special agent Jennifer Jareau I am with the FBI As you know the woman disappearing are escalating at an alarming rate, we recommend all women travel in groups, don't stand out later than 10PM, if you seen any kind of suspicious activity report it to us immediately thank you," Jennifer said

This caused me to worry even more, why did she have to go out, why couldn't she have just stayed home? I thought

I looked at the clock, and see that it's past 11,

I quickly jump off the couch turning off the TV, and go brush my teeth, I put on my Pj, and walk back out to the living room

Grabbing the blanket and pillow, that I keep next to the couch, since my mom makes this a routine,

My heavy eyelids slowly flutter shut, letting sleep take me, with the constant worry for my mom,

The sun woke me up, I sat up, I looked around,

"Mommy?" I said getting off the couch,

I went back into her bedroom, she wasn't there,

Normally this was normal her out all night, not coming back at the time she promises,

I looked at the time it was 8 in the morning,

"Oh raspberries I'm late," I mumbled rushing to the bathroom, brushing my hair and teeth,

Getting dressed, making my lunch,

Putting my epipen in my Pikachu backpack,

Rushing out the door and locking it, I run as best as I could to school,

I come to the cross walk, hitting the button so I could cross the street,

I watch as a few black SUVs and cop cars rush past the light,

"Cool." I mumbled

Finally the walking symbol showed,

I ran across the road, after about five blocks I made it to the school,

After much lecturing from the principal I sat in class, It was boring And I barley payed attention too worried about my mom,

When I arrive home after school, I knew something was wrong, I knew because she's always home by the time it's dinner time,

So I waited, and waited,

The sun was going down, and I knew I had to do something,

I grabbed my book bag and left the house, I locked the door, I took the bus to the police station,

I ran up the steps, to the police station, right to the front desk,

"Can I help you?" The police officer said

"My mom is missing I need help," I said tears welling in my eyes,

"Look kid were a little busy with-" He began,

"No, No you don't understand she hasn't been home since yesterday please," I said

"Look kid-" He began,

I dropped my bag, pulling out a picture of my mom,

"Cami Lokoski she's twenty eight, dark hair blue eyes, just like the other women," I said handing it to the man,

"She's all I have she was supposed to be home this morning," I said

"Kid she could be just on one of her frenzy's," He said

So it is no secret in this town, that my mom is a bit of a party animal,

"No, No, she always comes home, she always checks, in," I said shaking my head,

"Uh Jimmy why don't you go check the case," Detective William said

"Sure thing boss," Jimmy said

Detective William kneeled in front of me,

"Devin what have I told you about walking the streets at night," He said

You see Detective William picked me up off the street a few years ago, when I was looking for my mom, and ever since then he's kept an eye on me, making sure I'm not walking around late at night or doing anything reckless

"That it's not safe, but somethings wrong, I can feel it, she never came home, or called she always calls when she's going to be late," I said

"Will were-" Jennifer I seen her on the TV,

"Oh who is this?" She said

"JJ, This is Devin," William said looking at me with sorrow eyes,

"Please I need your help," I said looking at them with sorrow eyes,
