Once Zach and Kayla arrived home, they both retired to their rooms to get ready for the night then returned back down stairs to the kitchen. The two sat on the floor in the living room eating ice cream while playing tic tac toe.
"That's seven points for me" Kayla boasted
Rolling his eyes, Zach turned the page as he placed his bowl on the table
"Obviously you're cheating"
"And you are a sore loser"
"Whatever kid, let's go back to something you can't cheat in"
Zach reaches the end of the table and picks up the box of uno cards to shuffle
"Oh you want smoke in uno again? Fine by me"
"Mhmm, let's see if your singing the same tune when you lose"
As the father-daughter duo counted their cards, the front door clicked open. The pair turned their head to see Stefan coming in.
"Hey Steffy"
Hearing Kayla's voice but not seeing her, Stefan walked further into the room seeing Zach's head on the floor and then Kayla.
"Uh Hey? What are you both doing on the floor?" Stefan questioned
"I know you see me whooping your uncle in cards...why not pop a squat? You can get a piece of this too" Kayla turned back to the table but directed her next question at Zach
"You don't mind him joining do you? I know you don't like each other for real"
Zach and Stefan stared at Kayla with jaws dropped slightly, the older Salvatore's looked at each other
"We don't not like each other Kayla"
"Okay king..."
Zach sighed "Grab a seat Stefan"
As Stefan went to take a seat one the floor, the door bell was heard. Confused Stefan looked to Zach
"We're either of you expecting anyone?"
Zach shook his head as Kayla kept shuffling the cards to pass out but no one moved for a second
"You gonna get the door? You were the last person standing"
Chuckling, Stefan stood back up and walked to the door. When he opens the door he saw Elena.
"Hi"
"Hey"
Hearing Elena's voice Kayla snapped her head around, climbing onto the couch to peak over it
"Kayla get down" Zach pinched the bridge of his nose as he scolded
"Would you like to come in? We were about to start a new round of Uno"
"No! Take y'all ass outside" Kayla called out
"No thank you, the comet's actually this way" Elena shakes her head and turns around to go outside. Stefan turns around and makes eye contact with Kayla who gestures to outside
"Go outside bruh she tryna give you some cuddy"
As the door closed and Kayla stood up to walk to the door, Zach squinted his eyes confused "Cuddy?"
"Shh, you think they high five or something this time? Apparently the did nothing but talk last time"
"What?"
Turning around Kayla walked back to the couch and sat down "Oh let me give you some hot gossip Zach"
"You don't have to-"
"So Stefan and Elena are like obsessed with each other, and Matt doesn't like that. I personally think they trauma bonded but I think there's more too it"
Zach leaned back on the chair trying to follow along with Kayla's story
"There's more...to it?"
"Weird things keep happening Zach, have you picked up on that?" Kayla questioned causing Zach to tense a bit
"Weird how?"
"Well for starters, tonight. When I was on the way to the car and looking for Vicki, I could've sworn I saw some familiar looking people on the roof. Only for Vicki to come out the building and Stefan behind her"
Zach rubbed his jaw "So what do you think of all this?"
"Well Caroline would think Stefan and Vicki were hooking up"
"Oh?"
"I however think I haven't gather all the pieces of the story like how veins were on Stefan's face for a second after I tased him"
Hearing the last part Zach sat up straighter and leaned forward "Kayla, I need you to promise me you won't bring this up around Stefan, especially not Damon"
"Because?"
"I promise to explain more later but right now promise me you won't"
Looking into the eyes of her Step-father, Kayla nods "I won't say anything to them"
Zach sighed and stood up "Good"
Grabbing both bowls off the table, Zach started to make his way to the kitchen after he pressed a kiss to the top of Kayla's head
"Go ahead and get some sleep, we'll talk more later. Good night"
"K. Night"
As Zach walked into the kitchen, Kayla pulled her phone out and texted Caroline
'HEY, I NEED AN OPINION
U AWAKE??'
After 3 minutes of waiting for Caroline to respond, Kayla turned her phone off and put the uno cards back in the box before going up stairs to go to sleep
As Kayla got in bed she pulled her phone out and texted the one person she knew would always respond
'U UP?'
10 seconds later a ping came through
