𝑩𝑹𝑰𝑨𝑵 and Roman were following Oliver since Monica was giving him directions.
"Turn right here." Monica instructed
Oliver obeyed, Brian and Roman following suit.
"So, you just got out of jail." Monica spoke
She was trying to make conversation to break the silence. Monica had read his file more than once so she was well aware of what had happened in LA.
"Yeah. How long have you been undercover?" Oliver asked
Monica smiled sadly to herself.
"I lost track." Monica said
Oliver looked at the woman in concern.
"You all right?" Oliver asked
Monica ignored Oliver and turned to him.
"You might wanna keep your eyes on the road, O'Conner." Monica stated
Oliver had been going well over the speed limit for the entirety of the drive. Now he was beginning to switch in and out of lanes at the same speed.
"What, you think we're gonna crash?" Oliver asked, amused
"I haven't decided yet." Monica teased
Deciding to have some fun, Oliver quickly shifted gears and slammed his foot down on the gas peddle, rapidly increasing the speed of the car. He refused to take his eyes off of Monica, wanting to see if she would break. As the car continued to speed down the road, they sat there with their eyes locked. Neither one wanting to be the first to give in. The car came to a quick halt as Oliver slammed on the breaks, stopping at the red light at the perfect time even though he still hadn't looked away from Monica. They both broke out into laughter. Roman and Brian pulled up on either side of them at the light. Roman had noticed what Oliver did.
"He did the 'stare and drive' on you, didn't he?" Roman asked, annoyed tone
Oliver rolled his eyes.
"He got that from me." Roman added
He sped off with Brian behind him as the light turned green. Monica turned her head to face Brian again, her eyes wide as she fought back a laugh. Oliver started laughing again, shaking his head.
"Who pissed in his Cheerios?" Oliver asked
🏎
The three cars were currently parked two blocks away from Verone's house so that Monica could get dropped off without anyone seeing.
"Once we get in here, you're on your own." Monica said
She smiled at Oliver before getting out of the car. The three cars sped off to where they'd be meeting with Verone. The three got out of their cars and stood next to each other.
"Hey, where did you get them cars, the bottom of a cereal box?" A man asked
Roman laughed sarcastically.
"Eh! Real funny, Fonzie." Roman said, sarcastically
Oliver rolled his eyes.
"Ass." Oliver muttered
Two guys walked out from the compound. One whistled and gestured for the drivers to walk over.
"Let's go." Brian said
The three started making their way over.
"Keep your mouth shut and follow my lead, all right?" Brian told Roman
"I got this." Roman said
"No, I'm serious now." Brian said
"Handle your business. I'll handle mine." Roman said
The three finally made it to where the rest of the drivers were standing. Oliver had gotten pat down first, and was waiting for Roman and Brian.
"Watch your hands, brah." Roman warned
The man moved to Brian, who let himself be pat down without complaint.
"Go in line." The first man ordered
The second man snapped his fingers.
"Let's go." The man said
The drivers followed the two men, Enrique and Roberto, to a staircase.
"Stay." Enrique ordered
"Espera aquí." Roberto repeated in Spanish ( Wait here )
The two men moved up the stairs, as Carter Verone and Monica made their way in front of the drivers. Verone inspected the small crowd of men in front of him.
"Thank you for coming on such short notice. My red Ferrari was confiscated yesterday, and it sits in an impound lot in Little Haiti. It's about 20 miles from here. The car isn't important . What is important is the package I left in the glove box. The first team back here with the package will have an opportunity to work for me." Verone said
"What are you saying? We gotta audition?" One of the drivers asked
He had an annoyed look on his face and Verone glanced at him.
"Nobody's got a gun to your head." Verone replied, dryly
He surveyed the drivers, waiting for someone else to speak up. When no one did, he spoke.
"That's it." Verone finished
He walked away and Monica moved to the center of the step she was standing on.
"Drivers licenses. Pass 'em up!" Monica said, loudly
The drivers did as they were told. Oliver handed Monica his driver's license with a smirk on his face.
"Before Christmas, guys." Monica added, impatiently
"Vamos! Go!" Roberto ordered ( Go )
The drivers all rushed to their cars, taking off quickly.
