DINNER

Catherine's pov

I was not shocked about the affair. But I was too shocked about her pregnancy. How much has he hurt me.? I shouldn't have accepted him first. A playboy will always be it.

I drove towards the restaurant after my office. He arranged the dinner here. I parked the car and walked there. James was waiting for me at the entrance. I want to hit him with my heels. He still has the cheek to show his face to me.

"I arranged a private room for all of us," he told me. I just moved my heels there.

The door opened. There were James's dad, mom, and Susan. But I didn't expect Daniel, Victor, and Selin here.

"Come sit, Catherine," mom called me.

"What is the big news?" Selin asked. All are eagerly waiting for the news. James sat on the other side.

Everyone's eyes went on James.

"I am going to be a dad," James announced. All were happy. They clapped their hands.

"Good news," James's dad said.

"Congratulations, guys," Mom said.

"Not me," I said, sipping the water from my glass. All the expressions changed. They waited for James to continue.

Now it becomes more interesting. I watched James gulping.

"Eleanor is pregnant with my baby," he said.

There was a one-minute silence.

"Are you kidding me?" Susan asked. I know Susan already has her doubts about him. But she never expected him to make her pregnant. I, too, never thought about this.

"What are you going to do?" his dad asked. He used a strong voice.

"I don't know how to deal with this," James answered. Wow. He is a five-year-old kid. He doesn't know the consequences.

"What do you say?" Jordan asked James mom. She was covering her mouth with her palm. She returned to her original style.

"The woman is pregnant with our son's baby," she said. I know she wanted a grandchild. But I never expected that she would be okay with getting it by any means.

"If the child is yours, then we can't throw him to the streets, "Jordan said. Now James is relieved. He was expecting this from them. He sat in his chair, relaxed.

"Thank you, dad," he said.

"I don't want to punish a baby for his parents deeds, "Jordan looked at me.

"Now you have to divorce Catherine," he said. I was waiting for this. I hoped James would act like a man after all these things, but he is still James. He wants everything but can't stand up.

"Are you okay?" Jordan asked. I shook my head up and down.

"Sign the divorce papers fast and never disturb her anymore," he said.

"Okay, dad," James obeyed him.

"And from now on, don't call me dad," Mr. Jordan warned him. James eyes widened. He never imagined this. When he became a dad, he lost his dad. But James was aware of Jordan's nature, so he didn't utter a word.

Jordan looked at me. I watched all these scenes like a drama. The dinner is on the table, but all are already full.

"Do you want to say something?" Susan asked. I can see anger in her and Jordan's eyes. Mom was hoping for a child. She was always by her son's side.

I am ready to leave. I had nothing to ask of James. So I stood from the chair.

"Your guys knew this before?" I asked the three people whom I considered my friends. They have no such reaction on their faces.

"Cat, we," Selina started. Victor and Daniel were looking down. I have the answer.

I was not just cheated by James. Selin, Victor, and Daniel all cheated me. We were friends. But they chose him over me. They protected a cheater.

"We are not friends." I turned my heels to the outside. They called my name, but I didn't stop. I don't want to stay with betrayers anymore.

I drive straight. The tears start forming. I went to her engagement like her sister. I told her James was in Japan. But they were playing me. My vision blurred, and the car went sideways. A car overtook mine. The driver came out of his car and opened my door. It was Dominic.

"What happened, cat?" he asked. I have no energy to explain everything. He understood my condition and pulled me into his car. We drove for half an hour, then he stopped.

"Come outside," he said, opening the door. We are in a park. I went with him and sat on the bench. We sat there in silence.

"Do you want to open up?" he asked. "It will reduce your burden," he added.

"Family problems," I said. I know he will get bored of my story. So I said it in one word.

"I heard about the divorce," he said. Of course, Wad is his best friend, and they both hate James.

"Yes," I said.

"And now what happened?" he asked. I sat facing him.

"Elena is pregnant. Selin, Victor, and Daniel all knew about this. But they fooled me," I said. The tears are rolling down my face. He patted my back. I lean on his arm and cry. His suit is wet, but he lets me continue.

After what felt like an eternity, I woke up. I fall asleep from the crying. I slept in his arms. After getting conscious, I sat straight. His suit has my mascara in black.

Oh, my god. I opened my phone camera and looked at my face. It has black drawings of my mascara. He offered his kerchief, and I wiped it all from my face.

"Did somebody tell you that you are cute?" He was amused by my action.

"I know," I said.

"Cat James may not know your value, but there are others who know it," he said.

"Where are they? I am not seeing anyone, I said, looking at all sides of the park.

"Look at my side, cat," he said with sincerity.

What did he mean by it? But whatever it is, I felt good about his talks.

He drove me back to my car, but my mind is occupied by what he said.
