"NEW YEAR, SAME US."
december, 2023 LE'ANA WASN'T JOKING WHEN SHE questioned the time of the party. Injury or not, she was going. What better way to ring in the new year than getting drunk with your teammates?
The air was buzzing with excitement as Le'ana shuffled through her wardrobe, trying to find the perfect outfit for the team's new year's party. Despite her headache nagging at her all evening, she wasn't about to miss out on the festivities. Besides, what was a little pain compared to the promise of a good time with her teammates?
"Hey, Le, you ready?" Paige called from the living room, where the rest of the team had gathered to start the pregame celebrations. Whilst the other girls sat drinking together it should be noted that not a single drop of alcohol was consumed by Paige. Sure, she wasn't the biggest drinker on normal occasions anyway but tonight she had to be extra careful that Le'ana was okay.
Le'ana stepped into the room, "Ta-da!" She spoke. The soft light filtering through the window caught the delicate sheen of her black slip dress, accentuating every curve and contour of her body. Paige's breath caught in her throat as she took in the sight before her.
In the background, all the other girls cheered and made noise-complaint-worthy chants whilst Paige blurred it all out. Her ears struggled to focus as all her eyes could do was look Le'ana up and down. She repeated the motion around three times before Paige realised what she was doing.
Paige had always been attracted to Le'ana. It was hard to find a moment since knowing her where she viewed her as anything but beautiful. Yet, There was just something even more beautiful about Le'ana at that moment, a quiet confidence radiating from her as she stood there, bathed in the gentle glow of the afternoon sun. Her dark hair cascaded in loose waves down her back, framing her face like a halo, and her eyes sparkled with a mixture of nerves and anticipation, wondering what Paige thought seeing as she was the only one who had yet to speak.
Paige felt a surge of emotion welling up inside her as she drank in the sight of Le'ana, her heart skipping a beat at the sheer beauty of the woman standing before her. It was as if time stood still, the rest of the world fading away as she focused solely on the woman who had captured her heart.
By now, It wasn't just physical attraction or fleeting infatuation – it was something much deeper, something that went beyond words. It was a feeling of awe, of knowing that she was in the presence of someone truly special.
As Le'ana approached her, Paige felt a rush of warmth flood her chest. Still, in a daze, Paige cleared her throat settling for a simple compliment.
"You look fire, Le" she hyped up Le'ana, despite wanting to say so much more. Words struggled to exit her mouth as her eyes remained flickering between Le'ana's eyes, lips, and body.
The party was already in full swing when they arrived at the designated house. Music thumped through the walls, laughter echoed in the air, and the scent of food filled Le'ana's nostrils. It was going to be a night to remember.
She wasted no time in joining the festivities, grabbing a drink and mingling with her teammates. It was safe to say that KK Arnold at a party is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity everyone should get to experience. Le'ana found herself swept up in the joy of the occasion, laughing and dancing as if nothing could hold her back.
As midnight approached, the energy in the room reached a fever pitch. The countdown began, voices rising in unison as they eagerly awaited the arrival of the new year. Nika stood next to her boyfriend, whilst KK was on facetime to hers. Aaliyah's boyfriend also showed up. Everyone around them stood in pairs, whether it be at the party or online, with their significant others.
Seemingly, the biggest lights in the room seemed to shine in two positions. The exact two spots where Le'ana and Paige stood. Le'ana's heart raced with anticipation, her gaze flickering to Paige who stood nearby, a coy smile playing on her lips.
"Three... two... one... happy new year!" The room erupted into cheers as fireworks exploded in the distance, casting a cascade of colours across the night sky.
In the midst of the celebration, Le'ana found herself walking towards Paige, their eyes locking in a moment of shared understanding.
Without a word, they leaned in, their lips meeting in a soft, lingering kiss. It was a moment of pure bliss, the culmination of a year's worth of friendship and unspoken longing. The kiss seemed to stretch on for eternity, each second filled with the warmth and tenderness of their connection. And in that moment, Le'ana felt as though nothing else in the world mattered except for the woman in her arms.
Their lips finally met, and it was like a firework exploding inside Paige. Le'ana's lips against hers felt like velvet, soft and warm, sending shivers down her spine. It started slow, a gentle exploration like they were both testing the waters. But then it deepened, becoming more intense with each passing moment. Paige felt herself getting lost in the kiss, consumed by the heat and passion between them. Time seemed to stand still as they kissed, and for a moment, nothing else existed except for the two of them.
When they finally pulled away, Paige was left breathless and dizzy, her head spinning from the rush of emotions. But amidst the haze, one thing was crystal clear – she was head over heels in love with Le'ana. And as she looked into her eyes, she knew that this was just the beginning of their incredible journey together.
"Happy New Year, P boogers," She whispered, her voice barely audible over the dim of the party.
"Happy New Year, LeLe" Paige replied, her smile lighting up the room.
Le'ana and Paige couldn't help but smile all night. For in that moment, they knew that they were exactly where they were meant to be. And as the new year dawned outside their window, Le'ana felt a sense of peace settle over her.
She got her girl.
