Same day, 15 Minutes later

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've been tossing and turning in bed for 10 minutes. Too scared to shut
my eyes, too scared to sleep in fear that I would see a bloody face screaming at me again, I
throw the covers back step out of the bed and decide to go downstairs to see what I can stuff
into my face for a snack, I walk down the stairs and head towards the Kitchen door.
Shadows gleam on the pail yellowy walls and every floor board creaks when I step
onto it, I twist the doorknob and enter into the kitchen, It was pitch black in there, and the
curtains over the sink were closed tightly and even then enough light still wouldn't have been
accessible, I feel around for the light switch, where was it? fingering every nook and cranny I'm
able to find it and switch the light on, looking around cautiously before I go any further my
thoughts start running wild thoughts about the bloody screaming girl. I hear something move
around in the corner, and I jolt, turning my eyes towards the sound, sighing, I relax a bit, It was
only a baby rat scurrying it's way under the stove.
I watch as another rat following behind the first one cautiously scurries and then
stops and then looks at me to make sure I won't do anything, I smile, and watch it as it repeats
each step once more, but in order as it makes its way towards the stove. Scurry. Stop. Look.
Scurry. Stop. Lo-
"you're a cute little rat aren't ya?" It pauses in mid scurry and looks at me, a move that takes
me by surprise, did it understand me? I look deep into its eyes as it stares back into mine,
unmoving,
funny, I must be seeing things but it's eyes looked grey, I peered closer, and it still doesn't
move it's beady eyes still watch me, I tilt my head as look into them while the rat mimics me,
until suddenly a throaty breathless whisper escapes from it's
lips "she's coming for you!"
I scream and stumble backwards, almost falling as I scramble out of the Kitchen, and
run up the stairs in a fury of fright, blindly bounding my way upstairs, and safely to my room
where I slam the door, and lock it "oh my gosh" I whisper repeatedly "oh my gosh" I say again
pacing back and forth and rubbing my head with my palms. What the hell, did a rat just speak
to me? I glanced
at my nightstand clock, 6:17. Mom wouldn't be home until 3 hours, I shake in terror, suddenly
realizing the situation was even the more surreal. Somebody er Something was haunting me,
and I had no way out.
