Day: Unknown

Date: Unknown

Time: Unknow

Age: 3

"Mommy dis howsss looks willy wily scarewee" I say pouting while pointing my chubby little finger up at the darkened roof and depressed look of our new home as mom lugged me up the steps on the cocked side of her hip

"Honey it's just an old home...there's nothing to be afraid of" Mom consoled, while kicking the door jamb with the tip of her boot once we were on the porch so that the ragged door would open from being stuck. crrrreeeeeek! The door sounded with a startling noise as mom pushed the front door of the house wide open, causing dust to flutter around out of the door jamb that hadn't been opened in ages.

"see?" she said displaying the insides while we stood in the entrance

"Nothing to be afraid of" my eyes scanned the area and was not able to perceive anything in the darkened room, it scared me, and I retorted and refused to go into the house because it was too dark. and every time she would try to step into the threshold I would kick and scream in her arms until she stepped back out again

"what? Honey you're not afraid of the dark, are you?"

I frowned and replied by sticking my thumb into my mouth and sucking on it nervously as tears streamed down my pouty face.

"Look-"she said and sat me down on the porch before entering into the darkened front door, "nothing to be afraid of" I watched her silhouette as she made her way around the room opening up the dusty blue curtains and sending a flock of dust bunnies airborne, I giggled and clapped my little hands as mom coughed and sneezed at the contact of the dust

"phew!" she said while exhaling a wind of air "there's a lot of- "she sneezed again making me laugh harder "dust" she finished off and then looked over at me with a smile, her face was flushed and her eyes were tired, she then walked over to me and picked me up "I can tell you're going to love this house"

"But it's so dirty" I whined

"It won't be in a few days. We'll clean this place and make it look like our own home. Remember we were praying for a new house? Well this is the one...I can feel it"

I pouted. Not understanding anything she had said other than the fact that I was going to be cleaning the house. I hated cleaning. Let alone picking up my toys at our apartment.

"I don wanna clean" I say taking my thumb out of my mouth. My fat little tongue finally working for me so that I could pronounce a clear sentence for her to understand.

"I know, but then we can't paint the walls banana yellow and add sparkles, and pink and make it look like a real live castle." she said exaggerating, while I think about it and smile and then slowly frown once more

"It doesn't look like a castle" I say

"That's the whole point, you get to make it as pretty and as beautiful as you want it to be. Castles can be anything."

"Ok" I say getting excited and then we walk into the house together, me and her as she lugged me on her hip inside, I look behind me as we entered and I could faintly make out a girl from one of the houses across the street staring at me. I wanted to wave, but my hands didn't move. Something was weird about her. The girl slowly disappears from the window and replaced with it white curtains swinging from her contact. Why was she staring at me? I stuck my thumb back into my mouth, dismissing thought as the door slung shut behind me. I hope she and I would become best friends.
