When I was a kid, I'd scare my mom by waking her up in the middle of the night when I was scared. But I noticed that she'd get startled when I woke her up, so I started to debate whether or not I should wake her up. While I was deciding, I would stand there, in her doorway. Look at the darkness behind me, then look at my mom. Sometimes my mom would wake up and see me in her doorway. A little silhouette of a boy. She'd sit up quickly and ask if it was me or not and sometimes I'd be too scared to answer and that would freak her out more.
Looking back at it, I would have shit my pants if I were my mom.
