after graduation our class decided to throw a kickback at the beach, ethan drove us all. i tried putting on a i'm happy face but i couldn't tell if it was working. i was happy but i was also sad. i thought i would have a whole summer with grayson but if i want to pursue my dream then i have too leave

we pulled into the beach parking lot and all got out. we grabbed sweatshirts and our cooler. we walked down the beach and joined our classmates. there was a bonfire & chairs set up around it

"summer has officially started!" brittany yelled

"and we have a whole summer too do stuff like this, together" grayson said he grabbed my face and kissed me

my stomach twisted and turned

"grayson i need to talk too you in private" i grabbed his hand and pulled him over to a empty area of the beach

"i found something out today"

he looked at me and didn't say anything

"after graduation mrs.dunn introduced me to this incredible professor who invited me to ucla for a summer program.."

"kelsey that's amazing"

"i have to leave next week if i want to do it"

he bit his lip

"next week huh" he mumbled

"grayson i'll stay. it's not like i can't go in the fall" i explained

"are you crazy? kelsey this is your dream, you need to go"

"are you serious? what about us?" i ask

"us is still us, wherever you go"

"it's so much less time" i teared up

"hey hey it's okay" he hugged me "i've always wanted to go to cali, i'll vist multiple times this summer i swear"

"really?" i wipes my tears

"really. maybe ethan and brittany will come too" he smiled

"i love you grayson"

"i love you too kelsey" he said back

after my talk with grayson i felt one hundred percent reassured that everything would be okay. i get to follow my dreams and get the boy too. i couldn't wait for what was coming

"take this you need it" brittany passed me a red solo cup. i took a sip

"vodka and sprite?" i asked

"more vodka less sprite" she laughed

we danced around the fire all night long. tonight is by far one i'll never forget

the final day

i had spent every second of this whole week with brittany, ethan and grayson. making memories that i will never forget. grayson and i have gotten closer then ever. i'm pretty sure i'm in love with him, i just don't know how to tell him before i leave

i packed up everything i needed for college, my whole room is mostly gone. it's really depressing actually

tonight the group is having one last hooray at the boys house. we're just staying in and watching movies. ethan and brittany have gotten surprisingly close this week and i'm glad since they will be at the same school in the fall

brittany and i arrived at the boys house and we all went into the basement. ethan put on a scary movie and we all watched. brittany got tired quick so her and ethan moved upstairs to sleep

"goodnight guys" i say

"wake me up tomorrow to say goodbye okay?" brittany asked

"okay"

they went upstairs leaving grayson and i alone. i laid my head on his shoulder

"i'm going to miss you so much" i mumble half awake. grayson ran his fingers through my hair until i fell asleep

"wake up babe it's 7, your flights at 10" i feel grayson shaking my body

i didn't want to get up because i knew when we get to the airport we will have to say goodbye

"come on babe"

"okay okay" i mumble

after i get myself together and look half decent we go upstairs. i shake brittany to wake her while grayson wakes up ethan. brittany jumped up

"it's time" i pout

brittany gave me a huge hug

"goodbye babe i'll see you in a few weeks! no tears! this isn't goodbye" she says

next i hug ethan and say my goodbyes. i wave to brittany from the car. all my stuff is packed in & grayson begins to drive

the whole forty five minute drive we sit in silence holding hands

when we arrived he helped me with my suitcases and we found my gate. my plane was boarding in three minutes

i began to cry

"just like brittany said this isn't goodbye. i have a flight booked in two weeks to see you okay?"

i nodded my head and hugged him tight

"i love you"

"i love you too"

i grabbed my suitcase and started walking over to my gate. right before i entered i turned around and waved
