Chapter 12

 I quickly and quietly dragged Quinn to the ladies’ locker room.

 “ So, who is she? “ She sat down on the bench.

 “ She’s Olivia. Colton’s so-called sister. “ I rolled my eyes.

 “ Wait. So-called? “

 “ Not biological. “ I stated and started telling her how she and I met in the restaurant that Colton took me and everything that she and Colton told me that night.

“ What? “ She gasped. “ She actually called you a gold-digger? What the hell. She’s THE gold-digger. “ Quinn crossed her arms and glared.

“ She can’t be. She’s rich. “

“ You will never know. “

“ It’s gonna be a big problem if she knows I’m a student here. “ I started fidgeting and walking around.

“ Stop walking around. You’re making me dizzy. “ Quinn blurted out after a few seconds. “ Just stay here and I’ll go out and check. “ She walked out of the room.

Colton’s POV

Why isn’t she replying me? She’s so gonna get it from me. Just when I wanted to dial Anna’s number on my phone, a knock on the door startled me. Finally, you’re here.

“ Come in. “ I smiled lightly, thinking it was Anna.

“ May I come in, Mr. Zac? “ Olivia said and burst out laughing. “ I can’t believe the kids actually call you that. Definitely never expected that. “

“ Olivia? Why are you here? “ I raised my eyebrows and looked at her.

“ Grandpa told me you worked here as a temporary teacher. So I decided to come visit you and I brought you lunch. “ She smiled.

“ You don’t have to do that. “ I said.

“ I want to. “ She placed the lunch boxes on my table and opened it for me. Guess she is eating with me as well. I looked at my iPhone again and sighed as I realised that girl is not replying me.

“ Are you waiting for a call, perhaps? “ Olivia asked curiously.

“ No. Not anymore. “ I smiled and started eating the food that she made.

Anna’s POV

“ Anna? “ Quinn opened the door and peaked inside the room.

“ Yeah? “ I quickly stood up from the bench and approached her.

“ You might want to see this. “ She said quietly. Suddenly, I’m scared. Afraid to see something that I don’t like.

She took me to Colton’s office and I already heard laughter that came from his office. Both of us opened the door softly and peaked inside his office. Both of them were eating their lunch that was probably brought by her and chatting happily. That was when it all happened. Olivia suddenly stood up and grabbed Colton’s cheeks. No. No. No. This is not happening. She bent down and kissed him on the lips while he placed both his hands on her arms. I covered my mouth and gasped quietly, tears running down my cheeks. Quinn quickly took pulled me away from the door and closed the door softly.

“ Anna. “ She hugged me and patted my back, trying to calm me down.

“ Quinn, I’m… “ I stuttered. “ I’m fine. “ I slowly pulled away and wiped my tears.

“ You’re clearly not. “

“ I want to go home. “ I mumbled.

“ Alright. Let’s take you home. “ She gently held my wrist and dragged me away from the office. I placed my other hand on hers. “ Alone. “

“ Anna… “ I cut her off.

“ I’ll be fine, Quinn. I just want to be alone now. Please. “ I smiled weakly. She stared at me for a few seconds and eventually gave in.

“ Be careful alright. And call me when you reach home. “

I nodded and walked away from her.

It hurts so badly. My heart. He did not push her away. I wandered around the park near my house. Seeing all the couples holding hands and being all lovey dovey hurts more. Why can’t we be that close too? Why can’t we have a normal date too? I sat on one of the benches, staring at the small boy and his little sister throwing small pieces of bread into the pond for the fishes for no reason.

“ Miss, are you Annabeth Chandler? “ I looked up at the two men wearing black suits with earpieces on their ears asked.

“ Yes. “ I replied.

“ Someone wants to meet you. Will you please come with us? “ One of them asked politely and bowed down. I scratched my head curiously and stood up, meeting their eyes.

“ Who? “

“ You will know when you reach. “ The other answered me and led me to the black Rolls Royce – doesn’t look like the car that is used to kidnap someone. Now I’m curious.

I quietly looked out the window throughout the whole journey till we reach the destination. I came out from the luxury car and was met with a big mansion in front of me. I don’t remember knowing anyone this rich, or any of my dad’s friends.

The two men led me to one of the big rooms in the mansion and asked me to sit down quietly and do not wander around. I nodded nervously and sat down quietly. Suddenly, someone knocked the door and came in. I sighed in relief as it was just the maid. She placed two cups of tea on the table and smiled gently at me.

“ Ermm… May I know whose house is this? “ I asked softly. She just shook her head and walked out the room.

“ Well, that’s weird. “ I frowned.

“ That’s not weird. That’s called obeying the rules. “ The voice startled me and I quickly turned my head to the right, only to see an old man with a walking stick walked out of the room that was connected to the room I was in.

“ I’m sorry. “ I stood up and apologized.

“ It’s okay, young lady. Sit. “ He said and slowly made his way to the couch and sat down. I wanted to ask him who he is but I decided not to as it might come out rude.

“ I’m Aleksandr Fernandez. “ He stopped and looked at me while I stared at him curiously.

“ Colton’s grandfather. “
