"Why am i on the news?" He asks impatiently
"Got nominated for an award" James says
"What award?" I ask
"He's getting the silver star" Daisy says
"Oh my god that's amazing!" I say turning to Ethan and he frowns
"What am I getting it for?" He asks
"Something about a hostage" Matt says
"How did they find out?" Ethan asks and I cringe
"I didn't tell anyone" I tell him
"Well someone did" he grumbles
He walks up to Nate and Ray angry, "did you tell?"
"No!" They both say holding their hands up, "don't shoot!"
I can't help but let out a laugh at them.
"Ethan sit down next to Matt, Eden sit next to Harriet" the teacher snaps
"No, can we sit together?" Ethan asks
"No. You will sit where I tell you to sit" she snaps and I roll my eyes and sit down next to Harriet
"God she's in a bad mood" I tell Harriet
"Always is" she says
"Going to be a fun year" I say sarcastically
"Take a good look to the person next to you, you will not be moving. You will be working on a project with them for this semester. You will write a report on the mixed views on war. You will be given a video extract of footage from a war. A hostage situation, it's video evidence from the real thing and you will interpret that video into the report, it is an audio video" she says
I move my gaze to Ethan and he just looks shocked.
How on earth did she get video evidence of a hostage situation
The video begins and it instantly brings back memories.
Bad memories that haunt me.
Those three haunting days were the worst days of my life and it's taken me weeks to finally burry it inside and the teacher is playing it to the whole class and bringing out my problems with it.
My hands shake and I hear my pleads, "please don't kill her"
"Too late" I hear Azizi say
"I know that voice" Harriet says confused but I ignore it.
My eyes turn glossy and I nervously look down.
I flinch when I hear the gunshot and my screams and cries fill the room from the recording.
"Turn this off" Ethan says loudly
"Your not in charge" the teacher says and I look at Ethan and he meets my gaze
"I'm sorry, do you want me reliving one of the worst experiences of my life!" He shouts at her, "and fucking E-"
He cuts himself off and looks at me, "turn it off and delete the footage, you have no right using that without her or our consent"
"What's the big deal?" James asks
In that moment the room goes silent.
"I'm sorry Eden" I hear Kaylee tell me and i freeze
"Please!" I hear myself wail, "don't go, please Kaylee. They are here now, I told you they would come. Please!"
I close my eyes.
