Too Close | Rosalie Hale

Chapter 18

WARNING: This chapter is a little steamy lol, so if you aren't into that, feel free to skip to the end to read the part that isn't :)

"Come on," Rosalie said as she grabbed Lex's hand.

"Where are we going?" Lex asked with a chuckle as Rosalie practically dragged her out of the house.

"Outside," Rosalie said as she pulled her girlfriend through the woods. "We have been in the house all day. I need a change of scenery."

"Alright," Lex shrugged. She didn't really care about what they did as long as she got to be with Rosalie.

"I bet you can't catch me."

Rosalie sent Lex a sly smirk before dropping her hand and taking off running. Lex laughed as she took off running after the blonde girl. They ran around the forest, chasing each other and laughing like school children. When they were together, it was easy to let go of all of the bad things that life had dealt them. When they were together, they were free to be themselves.

Soon, the innocent chase turned into more of a hunt. While neither of them had malicious intent, the ambiance had definitely shifted to something more dangerous... Something primal.

"I got you," Lex smirked as she pinned Rosalie against a tree, using her arms to block Rosalie from sidestepping away. Though Lex seemed in control of the situation, they both knew that Rosalie could easily escape if she wanted to. The thing was, she didn't want to escape.

"What are you gonna do now, then?" Rosalie flirted shamelessly, tugging at Lex's belt loops to pull her closer.

Lex responded by pressing her lips against Rosalie's in a passionate kiss. Usually, Lex was the more timid one of the two, and she rarely took control like this— Rosalie thought it was cute. But today, watching Lex become more assertive, Rosalie had never felt more attracted to her girlfriend.

The feeling of Lex's lips against her own sent shockwaves travelling down Rosalie's spine— it was a feeling more intense than anything she had ever experienced before. The intensity was something that she doubted humans were capable of feeling, and for a split second, she was so glad that she wasn't a human anymore.

Lex was feeling a high that she had only ever felt when she was feeding, but this time she wasn't motivated by her thirst. She was motivated by her love and desire for her beautiful mate. Lex felt Rosalie's hands on her waist, pulling her closer. Even when they ran out of space between them, they couldn't help but try to get closer.

Rosalie let out a breathy moan as Lex's hands roamed lower on her body. She could feel Lex hesitate, but before she could muster out reassuring words, Lex had regained her confidence. Rosalie allowed her own hands to travel up Lex's shirt, running her fingers up Lex's sides. The smoothness of Lex's skin against Rosalie's fingertips was interrupted by the rough lace of Lex's bra. With inhuman ease, Rosalie roughly discarded the annoying garment.

"Hey, that was my favorite one," Lex pouted, pulling away from Rosalie's lips.

"I'll get you a new one," she replied unapologetically as she placed a series of sloppy kisses trailing down Lex's neck.

They were interrupted by the sound of Rosalie's phone ringing. Rosalie groaned in annoyance, as she tried to ignore it. Unfortunately for her, Lex was easily distracted.

"Aren't you going to get that?" Lex asked. Reluctantly, Rosalie pulled away from Lex. This better be important, she thought as she pulled her phone out of her pocket.

"Who is it?" Lex asked as she craned her neck to see the name on screen. "Why is Bella calling you? She knows that you don't like her."

Rosalie shrugged and answered the call. It was definitely odd. "Bella?"

"I need your help," Bella said from the other end of the call. Rosalie and Lex listened as Bella explained what was going on— her missed period, the strange sickness, the feeling of something moving around inside of her abdomen. She was pregnant, and she was worried that Edward was going to try to talk her out of having the baby. As far as Lex and Rosalie were concerned, Bella was an adult. She knew the potential dangers of going through with a pregnancy like this, and if she still wanted to have the baby, then they would be there to support her and protect her against the people who disagreed with her decision.

Rosalie's shoulders slumped as she hung up the phone. Bella got everything— she was being given the opportunity to have a child with the man that she loved, and after everything was said and done, she was going to become a vampire, just like she had wanted.

As much as Lex understood that Bella was in a difficult and scary position, she couldn't help but feel a little frustrated with her. Obviously Rosalie was going to side with Bella on this matter— that was beyond obvious— but Lex thought it was a bit unfair and cruel of Bella to put Rosalie in the middle of this. Everyone knew that Rosalie would do anything to have children, and now Bella was basically forcing Rosalie to sit in the front row and watch Bella live out everything that the blonde girl had ever dreamed of. It just felt like she was rubbing salt in the wound— whether that was her intention or not.

"Are you okay with all of this?" Lex asked, concernedly.

"I kind of have to be," Rosalie replied flatly. "That baby needs as many people on his or her side as possible. None of this is about me or my feelings— it's about making sure that the baby is safe and as healthy as possible."

Lex pulled her into a hug. "You're a really good person, you know that?"

"Don't tell anyone," Rosalie grumbled. "Or they'll start thinking that I'm nice."

"Oh honey," Lex replied sweetly. "No one is ever going to think you're nice."

"You're such a bitch," Rosalie laughed a bit, her mood having recovered tremendously.

"And you are only proving my point," Lex replied cheekily. "Now, come on. Let's go home— I'm kind of over this whole outdoors thing."

Like, I won't ever write really smutty stuff, but I'm working on becoming more comfortable in the way that I write the more physical aspects of my characters' relationships. Do you guys want more stuff like this? Or would you like more fluffy scenes? What would you guys like to see more of? I'm open to suggestions, and I'd love to hear about what you guys are interested in :)

ALSO, I'm currently working on another book right now, and I am trying so hard not to publish it until it's done because I want to work on thinking through my ideas and fully developing them before I publish them. For this fic and the other one I have published on my account, I had an idea for like the first half, and the rest is stuff I make up as I go, and that can make it kind of difficult to keep up the overall quality of writing that I put out. But I'm really excited for the project that I've been working on, and I can't wait to share it with you guys once it's ready (if you want to read it lol, it's not about twilight this time, so I get that it may appeal to a different audience).
