this is mainly a reference towards Peter Pan, who was also called The Boy Who Wouldnt Grow Up. The "abandoned kid" referred to how Peter Pan ran away from home when he was younger.
APPEARANCE - he is said to have grey hair and grey eyes. i didnt especially mention it but everyone in the angel realm has grey hair and grey eyes, and when you turn into an angel, you'll also develop grey hair and grey eyes, hence why xinyi had grey hair in the end. and it was mentioned that kun, jisung, taeyong all have grey hair and grey eyes. in human form, their hair will remain the same and their eyes will turn back into its chestnut brown.
TATTOO/RING - one of the first things mentioned in the book is the tattoo on renjun's finger. his tattoo is a swan, likewise, his wedding ring later on is also a swan. the swan represents freedom. through xinyi, he found his ability to really let himself free, hence why the ring that bound the two together was a swan. in the heaven realm, it's suffocating and commanding for him, even though it's prescribed to be this amazing place for the afterlife. in the end, he finds his freedom with xinyi.
