Reflects the story of RAPUNZEL
Rapunzel is a girl locked up in a tower by her mother, only to let her hair down when told
Flynn Rider is the reckless man who takes risks for a living
Jangmi mirrors the idea of Rapunzel, being locked up in YLH to study or else death will find her
Jaemin mirrors the idea of Flynn, being a careless teenager who walks blindly into dangers
The schools system (and partly the principal) mirrors the mother with its infamous line of "Mother knows best"
Her brother mirrors the lanterns that are shown every year on Rapunzel's birthday
Breaking it down slightly, YLH is known to create students of top intelligence, doing what they think is best for the economy. In this case, youngsters with intelligence. YLH incorporates the idea of "Mother knows best", by manipulating the country to the point where they know best.
Jangmi has been trapped in the "tower", while also losing her brother. her brother was like the lanterns; she saw the lanterns once every year for her birthday. this reflects the idea of jangmi reminiscing her brother every exam season, as like a memory that seemed to scar yet protect her
At the very start of the book, Jangmi is said to have escaped the schools cruel system, similarly to how Rapunzel has escaped her mothers grasp. Yet she had no choice but to return to the sickening school, with slight consequences (in this case, losing her identity and ability to touch). Rapunzel returned to the castle too, after being caught and told never to leave the "safety".
In the end, both Rapunzel and Jangmi escape their "jail". Flynn was believed to die at one point in Rapunzel, which was the same in Jaemins case. But both was able to revive and live with their loved ones after successfully breaking against the iron bars of the phrase
"Mother knows best"
