The days passed by way too easily. The weather in France wasn't cold, but the sun somehow refused to come out. Max was often accompanied by his girlfriend, Kelly, who'd landed a couple of hours after they had, so Melena didn't feel like third wheeling. She strolled out into the city of Le Castellet, treating herself to ice cream and some new lingerie. And meanwhile, she couldn't get a certain Frenchman off of her mind.

She didn't mean to think about him, at least, she didn't mean to think about him this much. Deep down, she really looked forward to spending time with him again.

But what'd happened to staying clear of romantic flings with men, especially Pierre? Why was she allowing herself to be persuaded so easily? Or was it a simple matter of breaking the rules and ignoring her own morals?

Melena knew she was supposed to push her feelings away, suppress them, block them out, because she definitely couldn't afford to be falling into the darkness again, not when it involved her ex-boyfriend, whom she'd never stopped loving. She realised that now— that she'd never stopped loving him, not even once, not even a second.

And all she wanted was to be close to him.

She missed him.

This was proof that the thought of Pierre had never escaped her. This was proof that her feelings for him were still there— alive and well. This was why she hadn't dared to push him away, and she should've long known it.
