Jalen sat in his designated seat for AP literature. Day five of senior year was nothing special. The teachers upgraded from the code of conduct speeches to their actual assignments.
He watched as Jacobi and Gina walked in almost rolling his eyes at the sight of the guy. The way he carried himself just irked Jalen's last nerve.
Jalen felt the look Jacobi sent him as he sat down and instead of ignoring it turned around. "What the fuck do you want bruh?" Jacobi smacked his lips.
Jalen shook his head looking over to Gina who peeked up from her book and put it back up once she met his gaze.
"Can you not look at her like that?"
"I didn't look at her any type of way. I was looking at you some type of way." Jalen responded smartly, before turning around as Dr. Mays began to speak.
He listened as a small voice behind him spoke, "What was that about?" Gina whispered over to Jacobi who shrugged her off like it was nothing.
The girl glanced once more at Jalen who was focused on the teachers opener and put away her book.
"Okay. Seniors this semester we will be focused on the tragedy written by William Shakespeare King Lear." The teacher informed, "it's about King Lear who gives away his power to his two daughters and ends up in poverty."
