Hui Jie's POV:
"I thought you liked me, Lilith," I blurted, my voice hoarse and shrill— something which tore through my lips in that moment of frustration; a selfish attempt to catch her off guard, to use something against her.
With a frog in my throat, I swayed. My muscles were so limp, I felt like I was about to melt into a puddle of jelly. My hands curled into fists so tight my knuckles whitened and veins popped like stringy water balloons. I glared at her.
    Then, her mask slipped.
"What do you mean?" she smiled sweetly, her silky tone embedded with thousands of blades, ready to strike and rip me up to pieces.
My heart stopped. My shoulders drooped.
"I–" I managed to breathe out, before going silent again.
Seconds ticked by, and I watched as Lilith connected the dots, realisation dawning on her face.
"The other night," she said slowly, "you snooped through my phone, didn't you?"
    My silence affirmed her theory.
Lilith inhaled shakily before yelling, "Huang Hui Jie–"
She took a step toward me.
    Then faceplanted on the floor.
