The stories say Persephone was a victim.

The stories say Persephone was kidnapped.

The stories say Persephone was tricked.

Consider: she saw the paths laid out before her and picked the one she wanted. Consider: she seized power and happiness and gripped them tight, crushing that pomegranate in her hand. Maybe she looked Hades in the eye as she bared her teeth on half his kingdom. Maybe she smiled as she held her hand over everything that was his. Maybe Hades smiled back as he pushed it all closer to her. The stories say a lot of things, but they don't say: perhaps this was not Persephone's entrapment.

Perhaps this was her ascension.
