"Why does it hurt so much?"

The boy asked his self, standing on a building, looking down at the long fall, his best friend beside him.

"No one will ever know why life thinks we're this all powerful, super human who can withstand bullshit."

His best friend replied, staring at him.

He looked at her, sympathy warming his heart at how worn out she looked, at how pale and dried out her skin was.

He looked at the tears that kept falling down her eyes, although she was trying to hide it by turning towards the sunset with a smile.

"It's all beautiful, isn't? How everything's going to end? Under a dim lit sunset of many colors and shades, the wind blowing here and there, distant piano music, leaves chattering among themselves."

She giggled, hiding her sharp intake of breath.

"It's so nice."

The boy walked up to her, and put his hands on her shoulders.

The girl didn't move an inch, as she fought her body from trembling.

"You don't have to act, I know this hurts you, just as much as it makes you happy that I'll be happy."

She continued looking towards the sunset.

"I love how the colors light the sky, so gorgeous. I enjoyed the moments we had together. How we'd laugh and entertain each other, how we'd help each other out of their difficulties. I love how you never made me give up, even at my lowest. I..."

She took a deep breath, concealing her sobs.

"I love how you're always by my side when I'm sad. Now... you'll really always be there. I won't be able to hide anything, not a cut, not a tear, not even a glimpse of the sadness in my voice. Just like always."

He smoothed the material on her clothing, whilst massaging her shoulders a bit.

"I will be fine. This is what I've always wanted. I've done what I had to do on earth. Life just isn't for me."

She didn't bother convincing him otherwise. She already tried that on the phone last night...and that's how they ended up here.

He held her arm and turned her around.

He looked at how her eye glistened, at her wet eyelashes.
He furrowed his brows and smiled, singing the song he wrote.

She broke down, the boy holding her tightly in his arms as he continued singing, caressing her hair.

She hugged him tightly, sobbing in his arms loudly.

"Please let me go with you."

He shook his head, and made her step back a bit, looking her in the eyes

The girl opened her eyes, and stepped back from the edge of the roof, a scream leaving her lips, as she cried. Her husband ran to her.

"You okay?" He whispered, concerned.

She turned to him, her eyes shining.
