Cameron POV
We were all in the car,
"How are you doing back there? You know, this whole pretending to hate me thing is getting a little silly." Damon said to Elena
"I don't think she's pretending. You did kill her brother." Ric said
"You killed her Brother?" I asked worried looking at Ric then Elena,
"He's fine," Damon said
"There is a huge asterisk next to that statement: he came back to life." Damon said
"Yeah, thanks to a ring that you didn't know he was wearing." Elena said
"Why are you so sure I didn't know?" Damon said
" Did you?" Elena said
" Yes." Damon said
"You're lying." Elena said
"Elena, I saw the ring! It's a big tacky thing. Hard to miss." Elena said
[Alaric looks at his own ring.]
"Jeez you two argue like a married couple.." I mumbled
I hear Ric chuckle
We arrive at Duke
"So Isobel was officially employed by the anthropology department given that most paranormal phenomenon is rooted in folklore." Ric said as we walked he had me by the hand,
we arrive at an office.
"Excuse me, hi. I'm Alaric Saltzman, I called earlier." Ric said
"Yes, of course. I'm Vanessa Monroe, research assistant, comparative folklore." Vanessa said
[She looks strangely at Elena.]
"Uh, let me just grab Isobel's keys." She said
"These are my friends Elena and Damon. And the little one is Cameron I hope this isn't too much of an imposition." Ric said
"Who you calling little I'm tall for my age," I said
Everyone chuckled
"Oh please, Isobel's office is right through there. Isobel was one of my first professors. I'm a grad student. She was brilliant, and one of the reasons I went into folklore. Uh, I have to ask - has there been any news?" She asked
"No, I'm afraid not." Ric said
" It's this way." She said
[She opens Isobel's office door, they follow her and enter the room.]
"I'll grab the light, feel free to look around. It's fascinating isn't it?" She said
[She leaves. we all look through the room.]
"Where'd she go?" Damon said
[Vanessa comes back with a crossbow and shoots an arrow at Elena but Damon rushes over and puts himself in front of Elena to protect her. He receives the arrow in his back, grunts, and falls to the floor. Alaric catches Vanessa and pushes her against the wall, restraining her.]
